So why not Hoffman in the 9th? He hasn't worked a lot recently.

But may need to work the next couple. Also while I don't agree with only using him in save situations he is 41 so why use any mileage if you can avoid it. Remember how Torres wore down last year?

Gotcha. I turned it on late, and I feared that maybe he was injured or something. Conserving him is great.

Cubs won. Darn. Though I'm glad to see the Reds lose steam, I fear the Cubs gaining steam.

Just got to jsonline a couple of times and you will realized who has a disease.

I know exactly how bad it is on the other side, which is why I value BF.net as much as I do. I also know of more than a few posters who have converted from the "darkside" and became an asset to this community. That's what I was attempting to express with my clumsy "disease" analogy.

Did Gamel even have an oppurtunity on a ground ball tonight? I honestly can't remember one.
No but he had the guts to run in front of Fielder on a popup.. bet he wouldn't have done that if it was a cheeseburger.. and yes I know that is a poor joke and tried to stop myself twice from typing it but couldn't.

It wasn't a save situation.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Jim Powell referred tonight to "the aging Hoffman." Not the "veteran", the "aging." Hmph.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Not every pitch is the same so I don't have an issue with most of Gallardo's starts. Looper threw like 100 pitches in his last start and it was much harder on him than Gallardo's start tonight because so many of the pitches were in one inning. If you aren't in trouble a lot and go 8 innings a 110 pitch count isn't a big issue.

When I hopped in my car and heard Powell it took about a minute before he said "We'll be right back on the Braves radio network"...that was tough. Having two of my all-time faves in him and Sutton in the booth still doesn't make up for stealing the Braves from Milwaukee...but those guys are awesome.

One interesting thing I noticed was when Schroeder and Anderson talked about Gallardo's improving changeup. Would be great if he developed that into a bigger part of his "arsenal." They mentioned that perhaps Trevor Hoffman has helped him out with that.

Hopefully Gamel can string a few more games like this together so we can see much more of him in the starting lineup. Gallardo continues to do what we all knew he could do, be an ace. He has some very impressive numbers this season up there with any other pitcher in the game.
