Where is the statistical evidence to support this theory about Escobar grounding into too many double plays batting behind Weeks? That was never an issue for him in the minors, nor has it been an issue for him in his 200ish MLB ABs, he has exactly 1 GDP in his career. Furthermore is pretty clear that Escobar has plenty enough talent to put the bat on the ball, I think it's safe to say that he's a good hitter. He may not walk enough ever, but I grow weary of Escobar being treated like he's still the 19 year old struggling at BC. He's clearly a .700+ OPS player with potential to grow. His biggest issue to this point hasn't been his bat, it's been his rocket arm throwing balls away.

edit. I was posting this before the HR, and I'm not a fan of these comparisons but to make a point Hardy is hitting .214/.266/.357...

I think Escy has a lot more pop than most people think. He hits most balls hard. Not saying he has a ton of HR power, but it will be interesting to see how much more he gains when he weighs more than 150 lbs

We're about to find out if a 10 run lead is safe, Suppan is pitching the 9th. This game is awesome. If only we could play the Pirates every day.

If only every team we played can be as bad as the Pirates. I feel sorry for the city of Pittsburgh right now.
Are the Pirates really that bad, though? 70 wins?

A lot of guys who have been pretty quiet lately have had nice games tonight.....good to see the prince get 3 hits. If we have a few come out of their slumps (Zaun, Prince, Gomez?) this team could be pretty good.

Again, though, we need our pitching to keep us in games. Tonight is a nice win.

Honestly, I like the idea of throwing Soup out there. If the Pirates score on him, what better litmus test could there be?

And yeah, it's awesome, though I'm starting to hope they save something for tomorrow night. Do it for me, Brewers.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
