Milwaukee Bucks 2011/2012

They lost one in Charlotte that they shouldn't have, and could have easily won in Denver. The rest of the games Bogut missed, and this team is really, really awful without him so it's hard to be too harsh on them. We'll see how they do the next month or so. Dallas tonight should be a tough test for sure.

The Bucks have had an easy schedule, but is it really going to get much tougher?

Well the next 9 games are pretty tough.

@ 6-5 Dallas

@ 7-3 Philadelphia

vs 7-4 Denver

@ 6-5 New York

@ 8-3 Miami

vs 8-4 Atlanta

@ 3-7 Houston

@ 10-2 Chicago

vs 8-4 Los Angeles

Then at the end of February there's a 6 game stretch @ Boston, @ Atlanta, @ Orlando, vs Philadelphia, vs Chicago, vs New York

After 4 games into his rookie season as a 19 year old, Harris is a bust? He was the youngest player in the draft this year, has awesome size and has shown the ability to overpower smaller defenders in the post.

Tobias looked really bad in the Dallas game, but in the others I have been very impressed with him. He's the youngest player in the league and he just came off a 3 week layoff from dehydration of all things. Rarely does he look overmatched. All that together bodes very well for the future.

Outside of Jennings showing some nice improvement and Leuer and Tobias looking like players though, this season is the same song and dance as every other Hammond built team.

No backup big to one of the most unreliable athletes in pro sports? Check.

Low efficiency offense? Of course.

Recycle the overpaid, over-the-hill wing you acquired last season for a new one? You bet.

Hammond absolutely needs to go. Bring in Kevin Pritchard and start an actual rebuild.

Side note: The Horford for Bogut trade proposal on realGM is genius. That would be a pretty equal compromise for Kohl, who desperately wants to contend every year and rarely wants to tank. We'd be set for next year.

This Bucks team just baffles me. I understand they aren't good. But they have 10 or so players that are decent NBA players... should they really be getting blown out at home by the Nuggets? The Nuggets aren't a powerhouse by any means... With the lose tonight, there's a good chance they could be 5-15 or 6-14 by the end of January. Can we just tear down for 1 season and have a mini-rebuild?

If I were the Bucks, I'd do anything possible to try to acquire 2 lottery picks in this draft. If they could trade Bogut for a pick in the lottery, that would be the ideal situation. I actually really like what Tobias has shown so far this year. For being 19, he looks smooth, confident, and makes some things look effortless. Pair him with Leuer, and you have potentially a pretty good PF combo. If you could be in position to draft a combination of Harrison Barnes, Austin Rivers (my 2 top choices), Perry Jones, or Terrence Jones, that would give you a nice nucleus to start with. A lineup of Jennings, Rivers, Barnes, Leuer/Harris, and some random center would be fun to watch.

But I know the chances of something like that happening are pretty much none... it's the Bucks!

I am starting to come around on Jennings a bit. He has really improved his shooting in the early part of this year. The team obviously isn't going anywhere this year; however a rebuild might be a little difficult. There is probably no one on the team that could get a big return other than Bogut and he has had some injury issues. The other guys would probably just be salary swaps with other teams or maybe a 2nd round pick. They are also stil not bad enough to be Top #5 pick bad; they will probably have to get lucky in the lottery.

Harris had his best game of the year last night; him and Leuer are pretty promising. Those two hopefully show enough this year to convince the Bucks brass to let go of some deadweight like Gooden next year.

Stephen Jackson is suspended for the game tonight against the Knicks. Apparantly he missed the team bus this morning. Please trade him.

There is no way that anyone would trade for him. He's more interested in making crappy music than playing basketball. Tool...

I think I've finally given up on John Hammond. I'd like to see a new GM brought in before the Bucks lose all of their fans, and move to another city.

Hasn't Jackson been viewed as a tool for a long time now? Was he really expected to bring in leadership?

He's supposedly a guy who will "do anything to win." I hated that trade. The guy is a total scrub player who was whining about his contract. Nice job Hammond, you have mastered the trade your crap for another team's crap.

Nice win @ Miami. Granted they didn't have Wade but still a road win is a road win.

That was actually their first loss without Wade. They were 6-0 without him before tonight. That is impressive

After watching Lebron tonight I am 100% sold on him being the villain in the NBA. I honestly can't see how anyone could every consider him to be the best player ever. He flops, whines, fakes injuries to get calls. One.complete.delta.bravo!

I only saw the final five minutes of of the game but it's hard to disagree with this. His acting job on Bogut's sixth foul was embarrassing.

Wins at the Knicks and Heat. #8-seed, here we come!

they are much better than their record. If bogut would have been playing for the west coast road trip they would probably be 500 now. There are so many bad teams in the east, its going to be hard for them to not make the playoffs since they have more depth than most teams.

Well that is basically the problem. Sure there is a decent chance we get a 6-8 seed and make the playoffs. Then we will get trounced get a first round pick around 15-20 and get no one of consequence that can help the team. It is a vicious cycle. Being a small market middling team in the NBA is a deathwish. You need those Top 5 picks.

i agree, which is the problem. Herb Kohl doesn't really want the team to be awful, so we bring in players like dunleavy who is a good player but far from great. In the NBA you need stars, which the bucks don't have any and the only way they can get one is to draft one. When you are picking at 15 every year its tough to get one.
