I hope we're looking at the last three games of the Granato era.

There's just no improvement in guys that have been in the program for a while.

If anything they are getting worse the longer they're there.

Ess in particular.

Outscored 13 to 0 on the weekend.

This is as bad or worse as anything Eaves ever put on the ice.

Time to clean house and bring in someone from outside the badger family.

Look, Granato is clearly a disaster and shouldn't be back but did we forget about the last two years of Eaves finishing 12-45-13 including a 4-26-5 season?

Certainly not forgotten. Never thought I would see Badger hockey devolve to this point in my lifetime.

badger hockey is at an inflection point here. This was one of the best programs in the country for many decades. It has been over a decade since they were relevant now. Teams in places like Western Michigan, Miami of OH, Omaha and Huntsville are routinely better than Wisconsin. This must end. If they dont get this fixed now, Wisconsin will become something akin to Nebraska in football or Indiana in basketball. Just an afterthought in their conference and nowhere near being relevant nationally. This has been embarrassing.

I feel like they will give Granato another year since they were a top 5 team last year. With that being said, I do not see it getting better. Last years team was good because they had two NHL players and one of them was the best player in the nation. Dzone continues to be terrible and there is little offensive creativeness without Caufield and Holloway.

Also, I hate Eaves because he never offered my buddy. Played on Team Wisconsin with Pavelski and that group who had a nose for the back of the net. Needless to say, I was happy for him when he came to play at the Kohl Center and scored when they swept Wisconsin in 08 or whatever year that was.

I’ll tread lightly here, but do you think the lack of recent success in Badger men’s hockey has anything to do with the formation of the Big Ten hockey conference? 3 of the leftover WCHA teams have won NCAA titles since 2013 (Duluth has won 2) compared to zero Big Ten teams.

Mike Eaves was 24-11-2 during his first year in the Big Ten and then nose-dived with a pair of single win seasons to close out his tenure. Is the schedule harder within the Big Ten? Are big time recruits sour about having their games shuffled around to accommodate football and basketball?

I’m asking because there appears to be correlation. I’m just trying to discern whether there is causation.

Possibly. More programs around the country has led to talent being spread out as well. When you look at this years roster, are there any guys that are going to play any meaningful minutes at the next level? I'm not sure I see much talent to play in the E even.

True, when you look at the recent Frozen Four champions, there have been a few first time winners in the last 10 years: UMass, Providence, Yale, Union

Meanwhile, the big time college hockey powers (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, Denver, Boston College, Boston University) have collectively won just 3 of the last 10 NCAA titles.

I remember being so excited when i saw the Badgers landed this current coaching staff. Never would i have thought the overall results of their tenure would be this disappointing.

Sure, Granato has had to deal with quite a few of his players leaving early to go pro, but that is pretty common for good college programs, without them falling apart like Wisconsin has.

For me the most disturbing fact is little to no improvement in the players that have been in the program the longest. Not a single player this year had a positive +/- with Ess sporting a -23 right now.

The same defensive problems have plagued this program since the day he arrived.

Why is it that every NHL season I know my destiny is looking forward to the Minnesota Wild heading toward an inevitable decline in play as the season starts to matter most? It's nearly every season. They appear to be back in another classic stretch of losses. Bummer.

True, but the Flames are really, really good.

And The spectator defenseman show up at the worst possible time.

Had a chance to get the sweep but bad defense shows up with 20 seconds to go and gives up the game winner to lose three to two.

I have to believe tomorrow is going to get ugly. I can see a 5 to 1 butt kicking.

And mercifully the season is over with a 4 to 2 loss.

Hung tough but a late empty net goal sealed it for the golden domers.

I would love to have a reason to buy season tickets again but as long as Granatos in charge I just can't do it.

As nice as it was that Big ten title last year is probably going to set the program back to at least 2 years.

Another year without a big 10 national champ in men's hockey.

Really impressed with Minnesota state Mankato. Everything the Badgers are not..

Mike Hastings can coach circles around Tony Granato..

Ovechkin scored career goal 775 today which puts him 119 short of Gretzky.  It looks like as long as Ovechkin stays healthy he should pass Gretzky near the end of his current contract.

I will still take Gretzky over Ovechkin but where does Ovechkin rank all time?

Hes the best goal scorer of all time.  With as good and big as goalies are now...it's hard to say he isn't.  Gretzky was great and would most likely be great in today's game with all of the tech and such, but that's why comparing eras would be difficult.

Connor Ingram had a valiant effort in goal for the Predators.  The Avalanche team is just too much of a juggernaut.  At least he returns to the Admirals.  The Moose won game 3 in Winnipeg, so the Admirals lead in the series is now 2-1.
