Yeah, I think it's time to put anti-villar talk on hold for a bit. He's swinging it well lately. He pretty clearly isn't trying to hit HR anymore and is just trying to get on base. Love the approach. He also sees a lot of pitches generally which is a bonus.

Here's to exercising the backend of the bullpen today, not that the term really applies all that well this year.

Where are the guys that reminded us daily about how awful Villar is and how we should just he happy to see Perez performing respectably at 2B even if it isn't our top choice?

I'll add Villar has been basically a replacement level defender at 2b, which is fine. We don't need a star at 2b to be a succcessful team, just a solid regular.

Exactly. the 2B, SS, and C positions going from sub .200 and awful just up to respectable competency will greatly improve the offense from the beginning of the season. Can't have an all star at every spot. That's happening lately, hopefully it keeps up.

In mourning since Sogard was sent down...

I'm in favor of every struggling Brewer to turn it around and start crushing baseballs

Villar has had 3 straight games of great ABs...and it dates back even further than that in the midst of him basically being the odd man out 1-2 weeks ago. he took an o-fer last night but probably should have walked at least twice. He's seeing the ball very well.

Saladino's just fine in the role of the utility IF/Jack of all trades to provide the occasional spot start - basically he's a RH hitting Sogard with better defense. As long as he doesn't suddenly shift into the 2018 Sogard role of starting about 4 times a game or becoming an everyday option at 2nd or SS, I'm happy.

Tip of the cap to you sir, I agree you're right about that.

I closed the game down on my work computer, but last I saw we weren't up by 20 runs...

I would counter that it's the manager's fault when a reliever gives up more than 4 Runs...

Hopefully this is the day that Koch comes back down to reality. My guess is they get 5 runs off of Koch, Woodruff pitches decent and the bullpen does their job.

So far, good call. You even underestimated the bats!

I agree with this 100%. Saladino has a place in the majors (as I guess Sogard did before he forgot how to hit)...but that place is as a utility player, spot starter and late inning defensive replacement. When you start benching young, gold glove caliber SS for him on a regular basis (which we all know Counsell loved to do with Sogard), that's when you have a problem.

Hey guys - haven't been able to tune in to the game today, just check in here and on mlb... what is the deal with Woodruff's control today? Getting squeezed or just plain missing spots?

Nice to see the bats swinging well..... and Alberts and Jennings getting outs that may have been better served last nig..... oh nevermind haha.

Great game this afternoon. Woodruff was okay and the guys hit well. Saladino is a keeper so far.

Woodruff walked to many hitters for anyone's liking, including a sub .200 hitter twice, but Arizona were awful at taking advantage. Anyway, it's nice to clinch a .500 road trip with three games to go.
