Honestly do not understand why Schoop is not in the lineup. If you're going to give him a chance you might as well do it when Shaw is out. If he is not starting he really has no role on the 25 in my opinion.

Yes to the bolded part.

Kershaw really is amazing. He's not the same power pitcher he used to be, but his location and stuff are so good that nobody but Pina has made solid contact. Even Cain's hit was a thousand-hopper through the infield.

Would have totally agreed with pinch hitting Santana there. Now, do we see goo for another inning? I say yes, but is out if anyone reaches base

Perez hits a pair of doubles last (playoff) game out...then a few posters wait until after his AB before ripping on him...

Schoop must be dead.

You could say that.

Even if not for his slump, no reason to start Schoop against an LHP. He's a reverse splits guy for his whole career.

Didn't realize that. Then I dont really see a need for him on this team. I didnt care for the trade anyways, but even more so now.

Yuni had some good ABs once in awhile.

I’ve not liked Perez at all , he has one good game followed by 4/5 bad ones. I like him as a utility guy but not as a starter seemingly every other game and certainly not batting 5. Just my opinions.

He had a .955 OPS against LHP last season. I don't think you can say for certain that Schoop is a reverse split guy right now.

Yep. Even if you're dead set on getting rid of Villar, Shaw/Perez is your 2B platoon. And nobody should have been dead set on getting rid of Villar at that price; he and Perez were the right fit for pinch-running and against LHP's with Shaw playing some 2B against RHP's.

Eh, he had a really lucky year all around last year. Villar had a really terrible year all around last year and was better from the left side, so we had to listen to how he was better as an LHB all off season. However, he was still better from the right side for his career, even with last year's exception.

It's probably better to dismiss a total outlier of a season than doubt several years worth of evidence.

There had to be an underlying reason why they weren't playing Villar, and why they ultimately threw him in the Schoop trade. It doesn't make any sense if it was just baseball reasons. I don't think we'll ever know why exactly.
