2019 BREWERS OPTIMISM THREAD

Having both Christian Yelich and Keston Hiura hitting in the same lineup for the foreseeable future is going to be quite a treat.

Hiura should not be lower than 4 in the lineup any time soon. Get him the at bats with Yelich on base. Or lead him off. He is legit!!!

I looked at some of our struggling players, and since I couldn't find a recent topic about LoCain I'll post it here, since it does qualify as optimism:

Cain has struggled at the plate, but looking at the surface numbers there are only really two things majorly different: BB% and BABIP. BB% is down from last year, but right in line with his career numbers. BABIP is down but his exit velocity is right in line with career numbers. His barrel % and hard hit % are even up from last year, and from his career numbers overall. xwOBA is .330 (Was .342 last year) compared to his actual .292. For reference, Braun has a .334 wOBA currently. In terms of plate discipline he's swinging slightly more, and missing slightly more, at pitches outside the zone compared to last year, but not really different from his career numbers.

So in other words; Cain's underlying numbers are as good as ever, despite his injury. Cain will have a strong final two months of the season at the plate to go with his GG defense and 80-grade smile.

Coincidence? I think not.

Arcia’s heating up. Brewers ready to go on a tear!

19 of the next 39 games are against the Cubs and Cards. The Brewers control their own destiny for the Division Title. Win 10 of those games and they'll still be in it. Win more than 12 and I'd imagine they'll be in the driver seat for the last couple of weeks.

How did we let this thread fall to the second page? The Cubs have the injury bug and there is still plenty of time left to make a run!!!

Sprinkle in Grisham and hopefully, a Moose extension.

Brewers have 17 of their next 27 at home. If they ever wanted to go on a run in 2019, the time to do it is staring them right in the face. If Stearns and Counsel have somehow managed to fix the bullpen, their lineup has the potential to jump up from currently being "average" in MLB with 4.8 runs per game.

"Fix the Bullpen" is actually make the entire pitching staff the bullpen... it might be the answer!

Don’t look now but, Black hasn’t walked a batter in his last 3 outings, so he’ll be up soon to pair with Devin, giving us a probable K tandem down the stretch. Hader if used properly, fireman, will in all probability pitch like he’s capable, add Pomeranz and a well rested Burnes and boom > dominant pen. This all before September, then add Suter Nelson lyles and as long as this team is within 1-2 runs after 3, it should hold for a comeback win 95% of the time, which is why this team is gonna be tough to beat in September. Book it.

Albers is 2 for 2 in save opportunities this week. He's going to blow up at some point, but maybe they can get another 6-8 weeks of useful late inning relief out of him.

Since the all star break our staff's era is 17th in baseball. Considering what we have had to do pitching wise with all the injuries that feels like a minor win.
