Cain is getting over his thumb ailment; the bats have started to heat up; starting pitching has been solid; in the playoffs if season ended today. Lots to be optimistic about.

Yup, just shore up the pen and this is gonna be fun. :)

I think the Brewers play better against better teams for whatever reason.

With his HR tonight, Christian Yelich of the @Brewers now has 60 HR and 33 SB over his last 162 games played.

He's the first player in MLB history to have 60+ HR and 30+ SB over any 162-game span.

And he plays for the Brewers :)

Homer alert.

I think this Brewers lineup is tantalizingly close to absolutely exploding. How delicious would it be to host the Cubbies for three games next week at Miller Park, and spank them six ways from Sunday?

One thing continues to flummox me, however. And that is Craig Counsell's continued insistence on starting Tyler Saladino.

His 2019 stat line might just be the worst I've ever seen.

21 games played

53 at bats

3 runs scored

4 hits

0 doubles

0 triples

0 home runs

0 RBI

1 walk

23 strikeouts

.102 AVG

Slash line of .120 OBP/.102 SLG/.222 OPS.

And he was batting seventh tonight! Typing that out gave me a nervous twitch.

Why for the love of God are we giving our opponents a free out? We could dig up Honus Wagner, stick him at short, and he'd be more productive than Saladino.

This is the optimism thread, man. It's because Salad man is going to hit at a Triple Crown level the rest of the year.

So, you're saying I should pick him up on my fantasy team? ;) :laughing

I don't question when we win! Win win win! Salad-man could bat .000 and I wouldn't care if we win!

Until the the pitching improves I am not optimistic with those clowns.

Every other thread on the site is open for negativity, this is the OPTIMISM thread.

It seems like an easy enough concept.

Our pitching staff has produced the 8th most WAR in MLB since June 27th (arbitrary endpoint I know).

That is a obvious improvement over how they started the season.

I'm optimistic our team ERA will be lower at the end of the season than it is now.

Braun’s back to his MVP-self and is going to carry us to the playoffs!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

The Brewers lineup right now is starting to look like we all thought it could. Since the break everyone but Grandal and SS have an ops over 800 with Yelich and Hiura above 1000 and braun close. Grandal strikes me as a streaky hitter so he will be fine I think. SS will be our blackhole but very few teams don't have one.

6-3 over our last 9 against teams with a combined +147 run differential. Good stretch. Wish we could have Monday's game back but overall the team is playing a lot better. Good chance to get 2/3 this weekend!

That's quite the run differential.

If you look at the Brewers since the break they are two blown saves from having won each series. They have battled back a lot lately and put themselves in position to win. Giants, Braves, Dbacks, Reds, Cubs is not an easy stretch with how the Giants are playing and the Brewers even with those blown saves are 8-6 so far

When we got him I don't recall anyone saying much one way or another but he has been a great addition. His defense is great and he is fast. :)

Keston hiura will win an mvp...this year.
Remember what Yoda said:

My my my. Things are looking up lately. Even with Woody going down. Even with Gio leaving the game. I feel so good now about this team taking off and winning the division again. Gotta finish the job!

Having both Christian Yelich and Keston Hiura hitting in the same lineup for the foreseeable future is going to be quite a treat.
Not just “at Night” anymore.
