Not sure I much understand this one. I know a lot of their options aren't awesome, but aren't they kinda set for average-to-slightly-above-average outfielders?

I kind of like Lange. Not a top or maybe even mid rotation dude but seems like he should wear a big league uniform someday? Shrug move, takes an arm + out of the Cubs farm and they have a marginal upgrade at the MLB level.

Agreed. Schwarber and Heyward in the line up against LHP is roughhhhh. Castellanos mashes lefties and averagish vs lefties.

 

Probably means more Heyward in CF and less Almora.

Defensive replacement for Schwarber late in the game if nothing else. Probably the only guy in baseball I can say that about~.

Castellanos can't play defense and doesn't hit RHP well. Still, obviously a better hitter than someone like Almora and does improve their outfield offense but it's a minor improvement at best.

I'd have it the other way around tbh. Schwarber isn't good in the OF, but having a cannon for an arm at least gives him some redeeming qualities. Castellanos truly is a terrible outfielder. As a 3B in his debut season he even came close to matching Braun (-30 DRS vs Braun's record-setting(?) -32 DRS).

He’s a “professional bat.” They needed another bat, they’ve been giving a ton of ABs to Almora, Descalso, Bote and other bad players. He kills lefties. Awful defender but you can hide that. Him and Kemp are nice depth and margin moves for them.

Heyward would be a solid lead off guy already. But they may be like the brewers and not want OBP at the top either
