Lefties we've beat...

Quintana (twice), Urias, Caleb Ferguson, Ryu, Freeland, Matz, Vargas, Caleb Smith, Brault (four times!), MadBum, Keuchel, Alex Young, Lester, Brett Anderson.

Lefties who beat us...

Hamels (thrice), Urias, Kershaw, Matz, Lester, Max Fried (twice), Devin Smetzler, Pomeranz (do we get this one back? hafta call the league office), MadBum, Luchessi, Logan Allen, Matt Strahm, Marco Gonzalez, Quintana (twice).

By my count we are 12-14 vs "good" lefties (better than league average FIP) & 6-4 vs "bad" lefties (worse than league average FIP), for whatever that is or isn't worth.

Thanks for Steven Brault, I guess.

My mind also immediately goes to the "remembered" definition of "recalled," which makes me laugh internally.

This thought makes me want to throw something in frustration: Why are baseball players being promoted when they are recalled, which means they did well, but contaminated food and cars and stuff is being demoted since being recalled means they were defective? The same thing means the opposite. HOW CAN THIS BE?!

I this a blue post? If not, not it is weird.

Recalled...going back to the caller/where you were. The manufacturer or the MLB roster. Seems straight forward to me. Although I do enjoy strange tangents in the game thread. So thanks for that.

Imagine being the Braves and having such a loaded system that you don't mind trading away a 21 year old left-handed starter who has already cracked the big leagues to acquire a 33 year old reliever who has only been good this year.

Is this guys stuff good. 6 strikeouts already?

AAA hitters didn’t seem to have that much trouble with him.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Since May 1st, Brauny is doing a pretty darned good job with the stick.

80 games

254 AB

39 runs

78 hits

19 2B

2 3B

11 HR

37 RBI

17 BB

59 K

7/8 SB

Hitting .306 slashing .359 OBP/.525 SLG/.884 OPS.

OPSing .816 now on the season. I'll take it.

There are three things America will be known for 2000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music and baseball. They're the three most beautifully designed things this culture has ever produced. Gerald Early

As Spock would say “fascinating”

Cubs Lose! Cubs Lose! Cubs Lose! Fly the L baby!

How about we win ourselves. That would be nice. I mean I like when the Cubs lose, but hardly a big celebration if we can’t help ourselves.

Definitely weird.

Recalled, as in called back to where someone or something has been before, doesn’t have anything to do with whether it is being done because of something good or bad.

Usually when a player is being brought to the big leagues for the first time they say he is being called up or brought up, not “recalled”. Looking back at stories this year about Hiura and Grisham should confirm that.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

So can this guy they brought in even throw a fastball? Guy walks two in a row and you bring in a guy that might not be able to throw strikes with the bases loaded.

Wow

The Rangers walk them all the way around and Moose proceeds to chase three straight pitches. Oof.

First pitch was a strike. Pitch two was a ball and pitch three was close but was probably a ball.

Contract selected/purchased is the official move in their case, since they weren't on the 40. Mauricio Dubon, however, was recalled when he made his debut.

I love Braunie, but that is and always has been a weakness of his..you throw him that slider away and in the dirt like that and for whatever reason he will chase it every single time.

Braun just can't help himself on those low, outside sliders lately. He's been hitting so good otherwise.

I credit the pitcher/catcher on that AB. Burned the inside corner, then outside corner, high fastball that he was super late on. Had to protect against fastball and got the slider. That's super tough
