2019-09-01: Brewers (Gonzalez) at Cubs (Darvish scratched - Chatwood) [Brewers win, 4-0 -- Yelich hits HR #42 off Kimbrel in 9th]

Well, there goes our combined no-hitter.

If there's any silver lining to Gio, it's that at least he only mirrors Corbin Burnes' unfortunate HR rate in his walk rate (only mild sarcasm).

I know people said one of the good things about Grisham was his discipline at the plate. It seems to me like he takes too many strikes. Maybe his approach won’t work as well with major league pitchers who are better at hitting corners.

Swinging at pitches on the corner's normally results in weak ground outs or pop outs. So not swinging at them and hoping the umpire gives you the call is the best possible outcome. This has been the Brewers team hitting philosophy for awhile now.

Watching Yelich bat now is just sad. He’s a shell of the hitter he usually is.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Verlander with a no-no and 13 k's through 8 innings, but the Astros haven't scored either.

Don't forget that horrible winning song they sing after they win and all the "soccer moms" try to dance to. lol

This all-strikeout offense we have is worse than the pitching. That was an utterly rare RBI w/ RISP, but it still came with an out (on the first pitch, no less -- nice plate approach, Mr. Arcia).

Can we have a DH for the shortstop? In 41 games since the break, Arcia has 24 hits including a whopping 3 for extra bases (.190 BA, .515 OPS).

While he’s not a super star player as we all know, he’s had incredibly bad luck. He is carrying a .218 BABIP since the all-star break but he’s also walking 10% of the time and only striking out 18% with a 31% hard hit rate.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That no-hitter went final 30 mins ago. Are you watching on a delay or something?

That could have been a productive inning if Yelich or Spangenberg could just let Ball 4 go by.

Or, heck, if Grandal doesn’t feebly tap the first pitch he sees into the shift.

Sometimes this is part of that balance of looking at a called third strike and swinging at ball four.

Kind of surprised that they're going back to Jackson with a lot of reinforcements in the pen. He wasn't impressive last inning. Couldn't find the zone, got pretty lucky. Fell behind almost everyone.

You're right. I just expect better from Yelich. He doesn't chase two pitches in a row that far out of the zone very often.

Oh I agree. These Brewers have to know of their stats with RISP and such and a lot of these moments have to just be building more and more pressure. It’s like a disease...

Just how they draw it up! Leadoff walk, enticing the hottest hitter in their lineup to then scald a line drive double play. Perfect!

Rather be lucky than good.

I’d rather be both.

Regardless of the outcome today, there's just no way this team is staying within shouting distance of the playoffs if the offense doesn't get it going. It's getting painful to watch. This should be a good matchup today.
