Lol not only was that a strike to Austin, but he went around too.

I have no problem pointing out when the umpires are garbage in our favor as well.

Yeah, Austin even looked surprised.

Geez, I didn't think Freitas could hit into double plays?

Cardinals won. Phillies won. Cubs winning big. Mets winning. Diamondbacks winning.

Once again we just cannot get any help whatsoever.

Brewers not losing helps.

Win every series and the rest will take care of itself.

Four games against the Cubs...pretty much determines the season.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Sure, but when you're playing catchup and running out of games, you need to gain ground, not just hold serve.

Certainly no exaggeration that the next series is the biggest of the season. Depending on the result we could be anywhere from tied for the wild card to 8 games back. A series win at minimum, 3 of 4, is a must to realistically hope to stay relevant.

Did get help from the Nats who scored 7 in the ninth to beat the Mets 11-10.

The Mets brought in their closer, Lugo, in the 8th while clinging to a 5-4 lead, but then lifted him when they scored 5 in the top of the 9th. Oops.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

This team has done just enough to stay relevant as we head into the September stretch run. They are going to have to get hot and sweep some of these series to really stand a chance at the playoffs, though. Sweep the Cubs (or take 3 of 4), and next week get very interesting.

Thursday and Friday vs LHP. Austin and Freitas hit lefties well, so does Pina and Braun. Maybe Cain can surprise and Perez too, we’ll see what happens with the lineup. Counsell not gonna let Anderson or Davies or Gio give up much, bullpenning all weekend, playoffs all 4 games.
