2019 Local TV Numbers

I found this interesting. I'm curious what a rating point is worth in MKE as opposed to LA, but I'm sure David Gruber and Pizza Ranch are happy with those numbers.

Top 5 teams ranked by local TV ratings according to Sports Business Journal:

1) St. Louis Cardinals - 6.59

2) Cleveland Indians - 6.55

3) Milwaukee Brewers - 6.37

4) Minnesota Twins - 6.33

5) Boston Red Sox - 5.25

Bottom 5 teams ranked by local TV ratings:

1) Oakland A's - 0.76

2) Seattle Mariners - 0.83

3) Chicago White Sox - 0.95

4) Texas Rangers - 1.17

5) Anaheim Angels - 1.24

1 ratings point in Los Angeles is 52,766 homes. 1 ratings point in Milwaukee is 8,484 homes.

So the Angels averaged 65,430 homes and the Brewers averaged 54,043 homes.

Note that the Florida teams are not in the bottom five despite their attendance woes. I'm sure they are still near the bottom but the situation there is not as dire as sometimes depicted by the photos of empty seats.

This really puts things in perspective. :tired

What's Pizza Ranch? Sounds like a weird combo for a name.

With the Warriors and Raiders leaving Oakland it would be insane for MLB to leave that market. Getting fans to pay attention is a 2-way street, why would anyone follow a team that might relocate when there is a second one in the same area? That would change quickly with a stadium deal.

They wouldn't be leaving the market because the Giants are across the water and actually have fans. The A's absolutely should leave. The town doesn't care for them at all and it's an incredibly well-run team in spite of getting jack as far as local support goes. Vegas seems weird to me but maybe there, Nashville or Indy all seem like decent spots.

I'm a little surprised that Vegas doesn't already have a team. Maybe they don't want to knock out their AAA team? Either way, that would be a good move as it would keep that team in the same region for division's sake. Otherwise, I agree, both Indy and Nashville would be good locations.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Ideally I think MLB would want to move the A's to Montreal but the rumor is Vegas or San Antonio are the likely destinations. Don't rule out Portland either as a destination for the A's.

It's the pizza / buffet place who (at least in central WI) think it's a good idea to run ads starring Kirk Cousins during Green Bay Packers games.

The A's aren't moving anywhere, the ballpark situation will be resolved. It's too lucrative of a market to give up. SF is completely separate from Oakland. They are never going to add an MLB team to any of those small Midwestern cities.

If the A's don't get approval from California and Oakland to build a stadium they will be moving.

I agree it is not going to be a midwest city especially not Indianapolis or Nashville though Nashville is growing rapidly. It will be either Portland, San Antonio or Las Vegas.

Indy Indians top minor league attendance nearly every year. Nashville is absolutely exploding. I don't think either one is getting a team, but I do feel confident a team would do better than the A's are doing. I don't see adding an MLB team to Nashville as all that crazy.

I'm less confident it gets resolved. The team is not well supported at all - and I don't see how you can make the claim SF is a separate market. It's not. The Warriors can't make that move so easily if that was true. Have you spent significant time there? You can get from one to the other in 25 minutes. San Jose is considered part of the Bay Area market, the 49ers literally play there (Santa Clara, but a far easier trek than coming from actual Frisco) and it's quite a bit farther away.

Because Florida is filled with 80 year olds sitting in their living room during 105 degree summer watching baseball.

Both Marlins Park and Tropicana Field are air conditioned.
