2020-08-14: Brewers (Woodruff) at Cubs (Chatwood) [Brewers win, 4-3 -- Yelich 3-run HR proves the difference]

They take five minutes pumping up Sogard as a leadoff hitter because he sees a lot of pitches and draws a lot of walks. Then he proceeds to strike out on 3 pitches.

David Stearns is a pretty shrewd guy. Not many players are able to get David Stearns to drastically overpay for your services.

Eric Sogard has managed to do it twice.

Hoping the Brewers can start working these counts a little deeper even if they aren’t going to hit. I am starting to have déjà vu of the Kyle Hendricks start on opening day.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Haha.

I wonder how much the different ball helped some of these guys year. Obviously Sogard had a solid year. Did the ball make a difference? Is the hitting coach changing something? I mean, these guys looked awful.

Does the ball now turn invisible halfway to the plate?

Nine down, eighteen to go.

All told its eighteen up, eighteen down so far. [sarcasm]It’s exhilarating to see which team might manage a base hit first.[/sarcasm]

Games like this would be kinda fun if they were smacking the ball around other nights. But every night of just no offense has grown more than stale.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

When's the last time Hiura made it two PAs in a row without striking out?

Hiura is on Rob Deer levels of strikeout rates. And he's a second baseman, allegedly.

If I had to pick, Keston is the biggest disappointment. It felt like we had a RH star emerging. Plenty of time to get in gear though.

Smoak sucks. That is an error, and better be scored as such.

Thankfully, that was scored correctly... I figured the Cubs scorekeeper would screw us over on that just to do it...

I just looked this up because I was curious to see how badly the Brewers have been outscored in the early innings. Incredibly, in the first 4 innings they are being outscored 43-12.
