Family tradition - I go out and buy a new pillow to celebrate Jeff Suppan Signing Day!

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

That's one giant lump of coal. But Melvin should have shopped around. You could get four million bags of charcoal for that price at Home Depot.

The crazy thing about this signing is how much it would never happen in today’s game...yet somewhat common back then. In his incredibly lengthy career he had a sub 4 ERA just one time yet made $58mil.

Just crazy.

I watched him once in a rehab game in Appleton. Gave ups ton of hits vs a single-A team. Didn't inspire confidence to watch.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

Pretty sure when established MLB guys rehab in the minors that they usually get a huge spread of food for all the starving kids, especially down in A ball where they're really scraping by.

Wonder if Soup went with Frank's Pizza Palace or Tom's Drive In?
