Looking to finish work by 11:30 so I can get over to the Brewhaus for a quick sandwich and catch the second quarter. Then get home for the second half.

I remember watching Mertz just light up the world in the opener and thinking that this season had so much promise.

What the heck happened?

Great performance vs. a bad team, then unrealistic expectations reared their ugly head....

I don't think they even met the expectations of those who kept their expectations modest after that game.

Very fair point...

Looks like the Badgers are going to have to play ketchup to win today.

Bravo on the condiment pun.

They're trying to mustard a comeback here.

How much prep did this announce crew actually do for this game? Mertz has LITERALLY been going over to the sideline for plays most of the year.... this isn't something new or shocking.

Kendrick Prior (59 catches 2017-19) only played in 3 games all season. Danny Davis (96 catches 2017-19) played in 2.

That production just can't be replaced by Jack Dunn (6 catches 2017-19) and the occasional flashes from a pair of freshmen in Chimere Dike and Devin Chandler, which allows opposing defenses to key on stopping Jake Ferguson.

Though all true, that doesn't account for Mertz' wild inaccuracies on a lot of his short/mid-range passes.

Based on his very brief time on the field, Wolf looks like a guy that looks to his first read and throws it there whether the guy is open or not.

And he has a funky delivery. Kind of a slow release.

Nelson's PI on that play that was offset by the offensive PI was one of the worst plays by a Badger defender in years. Dude literally didn't look for the ball - just plowed into the guy.

And Mertz has a weird loop in his throwing motion - sorta like Kyler Murray but not quite as bad - which I think hurts his accuracy. Certainly looks like the reason he's high on his throws.

And lastly, why didn't that dude pick up the punt and try to run it in? Worked out ok but seems like a low risk move.
