Dont know much about this guy beyond his numbers.

One look at his numbers suggests that he has been consistent. Unfortunately, consistently awful.

Hopefully we never see this guy in a Brewers uniform.

Interesting he has 163 career innings across 7 big league seasons and still had an option.

even with option(s), he's already cleared outright waivers five times in his career.

Can he hit?

Somebody has to tell Stearns our problem right now is we can't hit our way out of a paper bag.

Just because a team is having offensive problems, it doesn't mean they should ignore the pitching staff.

Of course but it is difficult to win when you can't score more than 2 runs a game no matter how good your pitching staff is. These offensive issues have been with us for a while now.

And I'm sure the front office realizes that. It isn't like they have a "only acquire pitching" mandate. The Adames deal was a deft move. I expect more moves to shore up the offense in the next few weeks. They know they have a playoff team here if they can start hitting a little more.

The team literally just traded two of their better relievers for a bat....I don't think they are ignoring the offensive side because their pitching is good.

I think I would have ignored Ryan Weber.

I probably would have too, but it's hard to blame them for continuing to turn over the back of the pen. Pen arms are so volatile. Never know when one of these unheralded guys is suddenly gonna find something and get hot.

I thought about putting my “Can he hit?” comment in blue, but with how bad our offense is I decided it’s a valid question. Of course all parts of the team need to constantly be addressed. I didn’t mean to imply that Stearns should only be looking for offense.

I guess. They had to outright an arm to get this one in, so I'm not sure it's really any gain. I think I liked Sobotka more than this guy.

Does Stearns believe the pitching staff is so bad he has to pick up a guy like Weber who has been beyond awful every where he's been? They don't need more filler at AAA so this move is a real head scratcher.

Stearns has always cycled through the last 1-2 roster spots on the 40-man. He claims guys with options, sends them down to AAA, and tries to DFA them later and see if they'll pass through waivers and stay in the org.

The last 3 relief pitchers DFA’d from major league rosters were Matt Wisler. Strickland and Weber.

Wisler was traded to TB but Stearns claimed the other two. Obviously they’ve been left thin in the bullpen with Adames trade and the ineffectiveness of Lindblom, Yardley and Perdomo. These are depth moves for the middle relief low leverage arms

Welp. This didnt age well.

Guy has been nothing but bad everywhere he has been.

ryan weber has been designated for assignment. the club has seven days to try to trade, release or outright him to the minor leagues. if weber clears outright waivers, he reserves the right to refuse the minor league assignment and become a free agent.
