I have long wanted for a sports broadcast option with no commentators at all, just the field mics and let that be it.  That would be so incredibly wonderful to me.

If you have a surround sound setup, unplug the center channel and it "should" give you only the stadium sounds out of the remaining four speakers (you may hear some occasional "pops" from your subwoofer due to announcer inflections, however.)  You may have to fiddle with the settings on your receiver to make sure that the PBP only goes through that center channel.

Hope this helps!

If it's still an option, I somehow missed it last year and this year but thank you for letting me know.  I will be searching for it next season!

Looks like this stopped after the 2020 season.  Hopefully they bring it back.

That didn't sound right to me, because we bought our then new house in '99 & I specifically remember watching it there. It was 2000. I think that was the era when they went out to Vegas or Hawaii every four years or so.

Or your long-term memory is as shot as mine & you first-born is actually four years younger?.

You are both correct.  UW played at Hawaii on Nov 30th, 1996, and on Nov 25, 2000.

Election season is the worst. Maybe the worst part is the waste of money and natural resources that go into all that crap you get in the mail. The last few weeks everything we get that isn't in an envelope goes right in the recycling without even looking at it. Some tree had to die just so your lies could spend 5 seconds in my fingers and influence nobody.

People that leave out candy and don't actively watch it. There must have been a massive increase in video doorbells and security cameras at front doors the last year. I have seen countless videos (numerous in my community) of kids stealing candy. Ranging from little kids taking all of the candy while flipping off the camera, your typical high school kid, and even one where the parent sat in the car and made their kid steal it all.

Are people just stupid? What do you expect? If you aren't home, don't put candy out...trust me, the world will keep spinning without your bottom shelf candy. One video the people were home watching the ring camera and came out to confront the kid...are you honestly that lazy you can't be by the door? Shame on the parents of 8-10 year olds that aren't even with them allowing this too.

I get one for the senate race almost daily. Ron Johnson and Mandela Barnes could end homelessness in Wisconsin with the amount of money they are spending.

Just wait for 2 more years it is going to be worse then.

Yah, people look forward to the election being over...but since it is a presidential election coming up in two years I doubt there is much of a break. I would venture to guess this next cycle will be incredibly ad heavy and lots of money being thrown around.

I don't envision myself creating a stadium candle anytime soon.

Apologies in advance for invading people's consciousness with this, but a Wrigley Field candle exists and someone's getting moderate coin for it.  Lord help us.

(Not that I have any illusion that every smell noted in AFF is pleasant, but who outside the chc fanbase hears the phrase "Wrigley Field candle" and doesn't think of urinals? I'm not even a urinal user and that's my first thought.)

I'm on a mailing list for a group that sends out oversized postcards endorsing particular candidates.  The thing that bugs me is, anyone motivated to be in this particular group is extremely likely to be motivated to support those candidates already.  Sending me these large postcards is a waste of their resources (which I know to be finite).

On a lighter note, when we lived in a different neighborhood in Madison, we got a recorded phone call one election night from the Reverend Jesse Jackson, reminding us that it was election day.  The call arrived at 7:55 PM.  I always imagined shouting "OMG I'd forgotten!  Thanks, Reverend!" as I threw down the phone and ran out of the house to get in line.  Our polling place was about two blocks away; I could probably have made it to the line before the 8:00 cutoff.  ?

I think it is a nice gesture for those that do it as many are not home but there is nearly a 100% chance that at some point a kid will dump the entire thing in their basket. I left the bucket on the steps once as my kids were too young to go alone and nobody else to take them so just hoped the young kids with parent crowd got to it before the one kid took it all.

It was beautiful out Monday so I sat outside giving out candy while my kids went. There was one house across the street that left the bucket and around the 1 hour mark some kid finally took it all with a couple of younger kids right behind dejected that they didn't get anything. When they finally made it around to me I made sure they got twice as much as I gave everybody else.

Sure, the world would still spin without the candy but it really does bring joy to the kids and having some selfish people isn't going to ruin it.

The worst thing about all the political ads is they seem to be 99% negative. What if we were voting on ice cream flavors instead (wouldn't those be some entertaining ads)? It's like eat vanilla because chocolate is evil.

What does chocolate being evil have to do with the flavor of vanilla? Why do we only have two flavors of ice cream on the menu? What If I want strawberry or a craving for cookie dough? What if I have a milk allergy and I want popcorn instead?

Let me rank my deserts. Let us have have the craft beer choice explosion.

One of the prominent local pet adoption/animal welfare organizations has their annual fundraiser gala this Friday.  I thought that might be a fun, worthwhile use of my time and money for a good cause.

I was thinking that it would cost around $250 for a ticket/entry.  When I went to their website, I was a bit surprised to see that basic entry tickets were...

... $1,000.

Yeah, I don't think they need my money.

I love (or hate) the negative ads that make a statement and then use that statement to jump to a bewildering conclusion that has nothing to do with the first statement.

To continue with your ice cream analogy:

Mint chocolate chip ice cream has small chunks of chocolate in it. Why does it want you to choke on it and die? Is that the kind of ice cream you want to give to your children?

* The message is not paid for or endorsed by any candidate. This advertisement is paid for Truth in Ice Cream PAC.

Haha. Exactly! Watch out for those Dairy Super PACs. Too bad mint chocolate isn't on the ballot. That's a great flavor.

If you have more choices, negative campaigning doesn't really work. It means you actually have to be for something. What a novel concept.

I'm also just thrilled to get all these get out the vote messages and calls. Regardless who the candidate is, I usually text them that I already voted for their opponent, so please get off my lawn.

There is a simple reason for this. All the options suck and they don't even know anything nice/good about themselves.

Nearly all the ads this year in my area were promoting candidate XYZ raised your taxes!  Of course, both sides could've used the exact same ad and simply changed the name.

But that led me to the thought...so why do I want either of you???  Where is the candidate that won't raise my taxes? ?

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Since when did it become a thing to start saying you got an "offer" to play D3 college sports? I see high school kids tweeting these pictures of them signing fake papers "accepting offers" from D3 schools all the time now. I played D3 baseball. There is no letter of intent or scholarship. If you pay your fee you're on the team.

They want to feel important?  I have no problem with it let them have their glory even if it is small or nothing at all.
