Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread ~ 2022 ~

Penn State just dominated the NCAA wrestling championships. They have five national champions. There are only ten weight classes. Yet they couldn't even win the Big Ten.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

This is not quite irksome enough to put in the What's Bugging You sub forum.  But it does kind of bug me when people constantly post pictures of their babies and toddlers on social media with half their food stuck to their face.  By all means share bright fun pictures of your children, it's good to see.  But good grief, why always with rice, pudding, or some orange crap smeared all over them?  Enough is enough.

I just read a story in The Athletic about Albert Pujols' return to STL, and by the end of the article found myself in midseason form for being 100% sick of the cardinals.  :angry

Yeah, I'm at the wealth level where if something doesn't work the way I like, I debate whether I want to spend the gas money to go and return it. Elon buys the company.

A nice elderly lady came into our store and asked if she could get a balloon with the month and day on it for her grandchild. I said they don't make ones that give the month and day on it. She said she found one online for her other granddaughter but could only find that one. Turns out her other granddaughter was born on 4/20. She had absolutely no clue what 4/20 meant. I wish I could have seen the looks on here kids faces when mom came to the house to give her grandchild a 4/20 balloon. I also have the song "One Toke Over The Line" stuck in my head now.

No balloons for June 9th? (I guess 6/9 isn’t quite as nice)

I hear people complain about gas prices constantly. Roads are packed and people are still gunning it at every stop sign so they can't be that bad.

I was out playing with my dog last evening and a 30ish year old couple were walking past and stopped to talk. Turns out he used to stop by and talk when he was a kid. His parents still lived a few blocks away and he was visiting. I remembered him and it was really nice to hear he was doing well, got married, has a good job and moved out of state after college. Then he told me how he used to think I was so cool growing up. Pretty awesome right? Then he continued to talk. Turns out my coolness was due to the fact that I didn't care what I looked like or what people thought of me. Oh well, my ego didn't need the boost anyway.

That is the official name of a least invasive hip replacement surgery.  It is certainly painful now and I am pretty sure it will be painful after the surgery, too.  It is what it is.

????

It was all of the softball and baseball pitching.  Problem is I'm only in my early 50's... or maybe that is a blessing in disguise.

My dog hides in the shower whenever it thunders.

Turn the shower on.  That should get him out.

The last 2 days I've watched a Teddy Roosevelt 2 day special from the History channel that was originally released during Memorial Day weekend. As someone who has went to school their whole life in the Milwaukee area, how was I never taught that Teddy Roosevelt was shot in Milwaukee?

I think it was right about where the downtown Hyatt is now

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006
