On to the Orioles!

I'm just here for more hypothetical Trey Mancini trade proposals and nostalgia from the by-gone era of 'Jorge Lopez is our best pitching prospect?!?'

Orioles/Rays were the only sweep on Opening Weekend.

Hopefully we can help Baltimore keep their losing streak alive & get them three games closer to that 0-21 start they had in 1988.

Can only imagine what chatter was like on OrioleFan.net (er, OrioleFanatic.com) back then.

The Cubs series was a classic Craig Counsell-era result. Thoroughly outplayed and outscored, deserved to be swept, yet somehow they manage to win a game and head out on a positive note.

Is the team that just beat us 2 out 3 that much worse though?

The Orioles occasionally take two of three from the Yankees. Any handful of games are not very indicative of talent level in baseball.

The Cubs are projected somewhere between 7-17 wins better than the Orioles this year.

BAL is projected for 60 (538 & BPro), 64 (ZiPS), 65 (ATC), 67 (FanGraphs) wins.

CHC is projected for 74 (ATC & BPro), 75 (FanGraphs), 77 (538 & ZiPS) wins.

The Orioles are projected last by all systems, like worse than the Pirates bad. But even with all that said, they will probably still win at least one of their next three games.

Hopefully it’s a get right type of series.  I’m very excited for their first game at Camden since 2003???  I instantly fell in love with this stadium when it opened and still love it.

In other words, no such thing as “like free wins”. Especially for an offense that is capable of being shut out in a game started by Justin Steele.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

So any team can win any time except when Justin Steele starts a game? Seems like a flawed concept but ok.

Not what I said at all.
Simply saying that there is no such thing as a free win for any team that is capable of getting shut out against a pitcher like Justin Steele.

The flawed concept, which I assume was a joke, is the idea that there is such a thing as free wins.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

It's definitely implied. Can't have it both ways.

And Justin Steele pitched 5 innings, there were 4 whole other innings that he stayed in the dugout.

Not having it both ways.

The fact that a supposedly bad team can win with Justin Steele starting illustrates that there is no such thing as a free win in baseball.

You are reading something into my comment that was not stated or implied

Being shut out in two of the first four games is very embarrassing. Getting shut out by two of the poorer teams in baseball is extremely worrisome.
