That promising inning fizzled pretty quickly with 3 Ks.
Thank goodness for the wild pitch.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

One thing that always made it a "crapshoot" was only four in each league getting in (I'm not really counting a WC game loser as any different than a one game playoff loser).  Regardless of the sport #1s lose to #4s and #2s lose to #3s all the time.  With the exception of 2020, you never actually had a postseason series between a good team and a bad team.

True. I'm guess I'm just of the opinion that there is more (and will always be) more variability in the mlb playoffs as opposed to say, the nba playoffs.

Goodbye Newman.

1st and 3rd, no outs.

the only run scored was on a wild pitch?

Seriously?

3 whiffs.

Without that wild pitch, we score nada, zero, zilch runs.

geez.

I know it's very hypothetical but it would be interesting to see how much of a difference there would be if it was 8 in each league and a seven game series each round.  I know there's plenty of variance in baseball and the worst team can definitely win a 3 game series mid season against the best team, but I do wonder how it would be in a postseason best of 7.

This lineup may improve from these awful levels but this will never be a good lineup until we make at least one if not two big acquisitions.

Used to play for the Pirates

Now he plays for us

Getting to the postseason is hardly a crapshoot.  Im not sure why any Brewer fan would take getting there for granted.

Nobody said this.

Every time someone complains about the offense there is inevitably someone that says "the postseason is a crapshoot".  Great, they still have to get there.  And then score runs once they get there.

Again, this is not accurate. You will not find anyone who is taking for granted that we will be making the playoffs this year. You will, however, find people pushing back on the notion that our offense, as exemplified by a mere 10 games, is so horrible as to preclude us from being competitive, particularly when the exact same offense was good enough to win us 95 games last year. I actually agree that we need to add a bat or two in-season to bolster our chances.

I think most people are saying its only 10 games into the season

I sometimes think that a lot of fans are just happy to get to the playoffs.

I felt that way when we started winning again, and made the playoffs for the first time in decades.

That time has passed.  Getting there is no longer enough.

How was the offense during the last "crapshoot"?  And I havent been complaining about the offense yet.  But the "dont worry about it, the postseason is a crapshoot" seems like a terrible defense.

Thought Renfroe got that one. Oh well, at least we can all take a bit of joy in the fact I have both of these starters in my 16-team fantasy league and am on the way to two quality starts.

I certainly am no longer happy enough just to get to the playoffs. I just firmly believe that the mlb playoffs is about getting hot at the right time as opposed to being the best team. See the 2021 Atlanta Braves, 2019 Washington Nationals, etc.
