Hey Im not here to give any extra or undeserved credit to others on the team.  That defensive line was man handled vs illinois.  The nee middle linebackers have been disappointing.  The offensive line is talented but pretty young across the board and there has certainly been struggles.  TE is a negative in part due to injury.  The transfer filled secondary cant cover anyone.  They might make it to a bowl game this year if things fall right.

?I'd happy bet they make a Bowl game this year...and they won't miss it by much.

I also notice you didn't actually answer the question about being a Badgers fan.

I mean not in this response, but in another one I noted that even though I dont live in wisconsin any longer, i do keep close tabs on them.  I'm an alum and former player of a different UW, not Madison, so im not a doner or anything and have only attended about a half dozen games in my lifetime.

Ok, so I'm gonna go with 'no, I'm not a Badgers fan, but I follow the program' then. It's such a simple question, I don't feel like it requires a resume.

Well thats kind of my point.  In my eyes I am a fan.  In the view of others who maybe did attend Madison and do donate to the program, I am not.  I want them to do well but this year they are bad.  I am happy they fired the very bad coach they had.

LOL. GrEAt idea! Fire the reigning B1G champion/coach of the year...

Well they just fired their football coach that recently won coach of the year two years in a row (only guy to do it this century) and was in the Rose Bowl a few years back...soooo.

I think the Badgers potential is way better than Gard has mustered...but then again, I guess it doesn't matter to me and isn't football related at the end of the day.

I'll just throw out that I think the Badgers win out or get very close to that and have this ship righted in the next year or so. I wouldn't call myself a Badgers fan but I think the reactions (not just here) to the recent struggles are a smidge overboard.

I think I would be more concerned about the expanded Big Ten and impending loss of the cupcake walk of the Big Ten West as infinitely more concerning to the Badgers success than the coach or even recruiting.

The Badgers success the past decade really has more to do with an easy schedule that often lacks Ohio State and Penn State. They have also tended to miss out on Michigan when they have a really good team too. It is easy to consistently win 8+ games and many times 10+ games with the schedule they are so often dealt. That isn't to say they haven't had really good teams, just that they really benefit from having a way easier schedule than say Michigan State has over and over.

I honestly don't think anyone joining the Big Ten is going to make it that much harder for UW. When SEC teams start joining, then sure. Don't get me wrong, there are teams that can beat UW, but I don't think it's going to have a major detrimental effect. We shall see.

Yeah, USC will be more like Michigan and Penn State than OSU...so adding them will only make it even less likely that UW plays OSU.  UCLA might be good every few years but on the whole they are closer to Nebraska's level than our level.

What has to happen is this whole keystone cops conference realignment thing has to settle in, then maybe we'll have some sense of how it effects the schedule season-to-season. What will divisions look like? How many years might go by before you even PLAY team X? Competitive-wise, the schedule has been pretty far from balanced from one team to another for a while now, I don't see how that won't be even more of a problem. It may become something like the NFC or AFC where yeah, you're in the same conference, but you're much more concerned about your own division. Which sorta makes me sick.

I wonder if the realignment will give any kind of a bump to UCLA attendance, once the novelty wears off.

Well, I'd say we still suck, but a pretty entertaining game here at the end entering second ot.

Guess I should have kept my mouth shut.

All legitimate points except IMO the secondary.  I've seen more plays on balls than I've seen in many past years, and plays in which they aren't in bad position but don't seem to finish. They looked vastly overmatched vs Ohio State (join the club). Vs Illinois there were some grey area PI calls, and other plays in which they were in position but out fought. Not a glowing indictment but hardly "can't cover anyone".

The safeties have been able to make plays & are largely in position, and that's with arguably the best one (Wohler) out since week one.

And they're down to their 3rd, 4th, & fifth TEs. And the 3rd guy is primarily a blocker. To me that's more than "in part" due to injury.

Agree about both lines. The ILB play was bolstered greatly last week by Grass & Chaney who were both 2nd team guys. So that's an area to watch.

The secondary might be worse than I thought.  They may not win another game this year.

They're pretty bad.

Whoever gets the job needs to scour the portal.

Need more talent.

Crazy to say since our two best recruiting classes in history constitute the majority of our team right now. Biggest reason why I think it's time to clean house and move on from the whole Chryst era, including Leonhard.

Yeah that worked well this last offseason...  But I guess they can try again next year since they arent really trying to recruit anyone out of high school.

I mean 2019 was headlined by two complete busts in Brown and Mertz.

I suspect the portal was the last resort for Chryst. He loathed it.
