Ashby continues to disappoint……obviously first start back but he wasnt good before he got hurt either.

Big reverse splits which is kind of baffling.

He's learning how to put it all together right now as a starter. Classic tell is that he'll have some spectacular games like against Chicago and Miami and then games like today and his last start against the Mets. Peripherals are still very encouraging with his ground ball rate and strikeout percentage. Limiting walks and working ahead of hitters is how he will take that next step.

We just have to hope for a split of this series which is quite disappointing but we really can't expect to win every game against Pittsburgh.

Ashby has to be much better than this. We can't have Burnes, Woodruff and three guys pitching terribly. Ashby and Lauer have to pick it up.

It just stinks that we can’t count on the starting pitching.     We were spoiled for a couple of years.    It’s like burns.   50% of woodruff starts and then crap.

maybe peralta will get back in august.

Don’t hold your breath for Peralta in August. Even if he is pitching by then it won’t be as a starter for the Brewers.

From the reports I’ve heard the optimistic scenario would be for Peralta to make some appearances in August or September and be built up to be able to contribute at the end of the season or in the playoffs

The offense is going to have to win some games without counting on great pitching because, for the foreseeable future,  there are going to be something less than reliable starters 2 or 3 out of every 5 games.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I still think a guy like Martin Perez wouldn't be a bad pickup for this team. He's a free agent after the season, so the Rangers can't be expecting that much.

Good thing Urias got in there. Dangerous send and it looked like he slowed down coming to the plate.

Why don't you take the 2 scoreless innings of Chi Chi and go with Gustave here now that it's a three run game with the top of the order coming up against a struggling Bednar?

Over the last few months I’ve expressed how difficult it is to watch the Brewers this year

I realized this afternoon that my frustration is when our offense is unable to hit the ball or score runs

I understand baseball enough to know that you lose plenty of game during the season

I’m surprised to see us lose two out of three to Pittsburgh but I’m not frustrated at all because we’re hitting the ball & scoring enough runs to win

I’m confident our pitching will come around

I’m happy to see us hitting the ball again

Pirates aren't quite as bad as they've been the last few years either. Reynolds, Cruz, and Hayes, are all high-ceiling young players....

I think a pinch hitter (Taylor or Hiura) would have been in order for Davis in the 8th. Take the shot at a possible HR to get closer.

Need a good outing from Woodruff tomorrow to keep the middle relievers out of the game and a win to keep a disappointing series from turning into a bad one.
