Counsell has really done a poor job this season. Admittedly the injuries have left this team in a tough situation but the manager has not helped things at all.

Sort of like Wong.

I don't get it, Chi Chi Gonzalez has never been even close AVERAGE, let alone good. Why is he here?

Ask Stearns and Counsell.

Ask CC!  He knows everything!

Well, CC didn't sign him. He's been a train wreck since 2015 yet he managed to last 3 years in Colorado, then Minnesota, now here. Just why?

For how terrible the cardinals are.   They have to be ecstatic.   They are actually in good shape considering

This week the Cardinals went 2-5 in 4 road games against the Braves and 3 home games against the Phillies.

The Brewers went 2-4 in home games against the Cubs and Pirates.

I know which I think is more damaging.

The schedules are going to flip and we will be facing good teams while St. Louis will be playing a ton of games against the garbage bottom three teams of this division.

I have a feeling we are going to be looking back at this ten game stretch in September

Unpopular opinion and it’s not going to happen but I would check out the market for Hader and possibly even Burnes and Woodruff. This team isn’t winning anything and if we let these stars walk over the next two years we will be back to losing 90 plus games.

At least Hader has another day of rest. Thank goodness they are going on the road.

Day off tomorrow, too!

Have to pitch better relievers in a one-run deficit game!  CC is just dense, sometimes, in these situations.  He never learns.

How on earth can Counsell explain what happened in the 9th?? Just a brutal decision that was first guessed on the brodcast. Also why did we get rid of Vogelbach with the dh in play but keep him when it wasn't?? This team always seems a step behind on the roster front.

This was a week to gain at least two games on St. Louis and we failed.

What an absolute organizational failure to have chi chi gonzalez pitching in a 1 run game in the 9th.  Its bad enough to have him on the roster with about half a dozen better options in the minors, but to use him outside of long relief/garbage time is awful.

If Small is in the minors and Chi Chi is here either the gm needs to go or the scouts that drafted Small do.

Eh it's a long season, you're going to have stinkers like yesterday and today.  I'm having a hard time coming up with a reason for Chi Chi to remain in Milwaukee though.  Perhaps that is the end of the line for him here.

it’s totally inexcusable and the result was predictable.

I agree. When the team didn’t improve the offense this off-season you could tell that they are taking the “let’s be competitive and try to make the playoffs, and then hope we are hot at the right time” approach. This team has too many holes, especially with all their injuries, to think that they have a good chance of making it deep into the playoffs. If upper management wouldn’t get the extra offense they needed this off-season, when the window of our stud pitching is closing, they very likely aren’t going to.

How many managers last 8 years with a team?? At a certain point guys get stale. A new voice might be needed. Counsell just seems kinda blah and not as sharp as he was coming up. At least fire Murphy and get him a new right hand.

They won’t be in first after this road trip and I’m still not convinced they’ll finish the season above .500.   I just don’t think they’re very good.

CC is good with player relations, BUT I find him dense for in-game decision making.

To put numbers on it the Brewers have now played 42 of their 63 scheduled games against the Pirates, Cubs, Reds and Nats.

The Cardinals have played 24.

For the Brewers to hang on to the division lead they’re going to have to start winning more than half their games because hoping for the Cardinals to lose isn’t going to work forever.
