Down 2-1 with 2 outs in the 9th inning, Carolina’s Hendry Mendez singled and Herbert Perez reached via an error on the right fielder. Eduardo Garcia is now up…but K’s to end the game.

Dylan File and Trevor Kelley pitched the final 4 scoreless innings in Nashville’s 4-2 win. Kelley’s season ERA in AAA is now 0.39.

Vennaro allowed a double and a walk, but no runs in the top of the 9th inning. Noah Campbell, Felix Valerio and Yeison Coca are due up, 9-9 in the bottom of the 9th.

Whoa. Luis Contreras escapes a bases loaded jam in the top of the 10th inning, then Sal Frelick hits the first pitch in the bottom half of the inning to plate Manfred’s ghost (Gabe Holt) and win 10-9!

SS Daniel Guillarte strikes again: 3-for-3 (7th 2B), 1RBI, 1R, 1BB, 0K. Yeah baby. RHP's Alexander Vallecillo and Jesus Rivero have pitched 8 complete innings so far: 2H, 2BB, 0R, 12K. Yowza. 4-0 Brewers Blue lead.

Fun little Brewers Gold Box tonight. They lead 10-6 in the top half of the 8th - they just gave up 3 runs to the Cubbies and have 2 down and a man on second with RHP Patricio Aquino trying to prevent further damage.

The answer to today's Thread Title:

"Yes, yes Justin Jarvis can lead his Timber Rattlers team to victory!" What a night for the young righty. He continues to thrive in 2022. 120 K's on the season now (leading the entire League - Antoine Kelly is third). 91 pitches across 6 innings - didn't really want to come out for the 7th and was lobbying to go back on the mound. Ace. Stud. Winner. Also (looks at notes): he's now the first Midwest League pitcher to eclipse 100 IP. Huzzah!

AND, once again OF Tristan Peters with two more doubles (19 on the year). He's taken over the lead-off position with aplomb. He's been so good this entire year. I really hope people don't take him for granted or overlook the quality he is pumping out on a nightly basis. 5 games in a row with two hits. Solid. Just solid.

Also of note:

On base a couple more times tonight, INF/C/DH/Utility Man Wes Clarke has a July OBP of 0.426 - he's also  elevated his OPS by 37 points the past few games. Love it. LOVE it.

Frelick with the winner on his 3rd hit and 5th reach of the game.  Send the man to Nashville already!

Stearns must be waiting for the trade deadline to shake out - e.g. in case Jonathan Davis ends up back in AAA. Otherwise, there’s not much sense to me in keeping Frelick and Mitchell down while Whitley gets a bunch of starts. Nothing against Whitley.

For those who've watched him pitch, is Alexander Vallecillo someone to watch?  Just turned 20, has some good stat lines this year and last year, walked <3.0/9 both seasons and picking up the K's this year.  Listed as 6'2", 150, so there's definitely some growth potential.

@LouisEly: If you're not in the Maryvale area or visiting strictly for baseball, we're all pretty much limited to Box Score gleanings and 'witnessing from afar'. This being said, what you point to is what we've noticed as well. There are some very intriguing developments this year. He's definitely in line for a test up at Low-A Zebulon. Here's an earlier Brewers Player Development tweet (late June) that gives us a glimpse of his stuff. He has that classic slow down semi-pause before firing it to home plate and we see a four-pitch blend here:
