Game Thread (8/06/2022): Reds (Lodolo) at Brewers (Ashby) - 6:15 PM CDT

While I do think Ashby is going to be a good one-here’s hoping that he takes a step forward next year similar to the one Burnes experienced in 2020-the simple takeaway from tonight is that you cannot give out six walks, even to a team as fundamentally poor as the Reds are, and expect to win.

Walks are an absolute killer.

And checking the National League team defensive rankings YTD, the Brewers have a -15 team Rtot, which ranks 8th of 15 teams. -10 is league average.

Baseball Reference defines Rtot thusly:

Rtot -- Total Zone Total Fielding Runs Above Avg
The number of runs above or below average the player was worth based on the number of plays made.”

Well things seem to be going well here.  think I’ll check on the MILB box scores.

So much for the “run preventing” team. I see a major overhaul in the offseason

Sadly, mlb.tv realized my apple pay credit card card been cancelled since April so I can’t fully watch this circus.  the 3.5 months free was nice!

Oh, Suter….

Let’s rub a little mor salt in the wound. 6-3 is at least conceivable. 7-3 really puts us behind the 8 ball.

Every one of the four Brewer pitchers have given up a home run tonight, in addition to now SEVEN walks, in toto.

You’d think that we were facing the ‘27 Yankees.

At least with the '27 Yankees it would have been a quick death.  As it is this season is a slow bleed.

Looks like the runner up 1982 Milwaukee Brewers are safe from being overshadowed for awhile.

This franchise will reach their next World Series when they relocate to Las Vegas in ten years.

I think he’ll be very good, Ashby’s peripherals with the exception of the walks are very strong. Also, he’s currently still just a bit younger than the age range where some of the Brewers most recent starting pitcher success stories (i.e. Jimmy Nelson, Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes) all saw significant improvements in their results.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

How pissed are we all at Suter if Adames jacks a bomb here, we score three in the bottom of the ninth, and lose by 1?

Agreed 100%, Eye Black.

I have learned to temper my expectations with everything Brewers related, as I’ve been disappointed too often.

I think that the Brewers could have a truly elite five man. But it’s clear to everyone, Stevie Wonder, included, that this offense needs a complete overhaul.

First place was nice as was the wild card. Will we see it again? That is the question.

I don’t like how this year has made me. I’ve never felt this negative about a Brewers team… it’s so frustrating. Especially this last week of moves or lack of and CC’s management has hurt badly. Just silly overthinking - and times where he’s asleep at the wheel. Ugh. Night fellas

Well, we got two.

That 7-1 start after the break seems like a distant memory, now.

This is so disappointing. I’m really starting to think that the move of Hader really affected the locker room. The Brewers aren’t a great team, by any stretch. They’re probably an 85-87 win team. Not terrible. Not a true contender.

But this team losing 4 of 5 to the dregs of the division, and most in comeback fashion, just reeks of the team quitting.
