The situation with Stearns has to be settled in the offseason. Either he signs an extension or just let him go to the Mets but we can't have a lame duck executive making the calls when we have so many players two years away from free agency.

McGee giving up a run here would be a certain DFA on Monday.  Cousins is ready to return.

Brewers Transactions

08/08/22 Milwaukee Brewers designated LHP Jake McGee for assignment.

08/08/22 Milwaukee Brewers activated RHP Jake Cousins from the 60-day injured list.

Since the trade deadline the pitching staff and in particular the bullpen has been bleeding runs at an alarming rate.

Would be nice to have the best reliever in the game instead of all the junk we've picked up lately.

Bargain shopping hoping to catch lightning in a bottle will only get you so far. In the end it gets you watching the World Series at home, something the Brewers have done 51 times in their 52 year existence.

It's because he was the one hitter who had the minor league option available, and the Brewers' FO would be damned to just DFA a marginal utility bat - even if it meant sending one of their best hitters back to the minors instead.  Looks even worse after they've basically been forced to purge guys off their 40 man for nada after the trades they just made to add 18 more relievers just as a bunch of other pitchers that were on the IL are coming back.

Kind of similar to 2019 actually. He was sent down for about 3 weeks after a solid start because the Brewers FO just couldn't give up on a worthless Travis Shaw. They had to protect their organizational depth or whatever the spin was. We went 9-12 during his time he was sent back down and I still believe that was the reason we did not win the division that year.

What does that even mean? David Stearns doesn’t have a bunch of World Series rings where he can be a Maverick.

He’s doing everything he can to win with the Brewers because that’s his job, anything less for a guy like him is career suicide.

I don't want a guy making long term decisions for the team who is not planning on sticking around.

I don't think strength of schedule will play a role in whether the Brewers make the playoffs as a wild card team.

No I think its over for this team and the question is whether they finish over .500.

These teams keep bringing in relievers with ERA’s over 5 and the Brewers can’t score against them.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

That’s sort of a fitting description for what the Ronald Acuna-less World Champion Atlanta Braves did last season. None of Soler, Rosario, Duvall, or Pederson cost very much to acquire or were considered “winning the trade deadline.” At the time the Braves looked like a long shot, and then they rode the wave when those guys played over their heads for stretches.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Well, that’s goofy. It’s a ridiculous notion to suggest a GM’s contract status would somehow impacts his effort in doing his job.

It's a numbers game.  When have we added 4 bats at the deadline (2 seems to be the max).
