Due to the two prospects, fully critiquing this deal can't happen yet for quite awhile.

Exactly. I am skeptical about Ruiz, but am really enthralled with Gasser. Even one of those guys becoming solid contributors for us over 6 years of control would make the Hader deal worth it imo.

I can get the skepticism re Ruiz. But from what I understand his contact rate & ability to take walks has improved tremendously. If that continues to go northward he's the type of weapon I'd love to have on this roster.

I would definitely acknowledge that I'd take Hader hands down until recently, but my post was strictly about the 2022 versions of Hader and Rogers.

Yet your example was from the last 3 seasons, not just this season.

You are in a constant pissing contest with other posters and it brings down these threads imo.

"Pissing"? The other posters you refer to responded to one of my opinions and critiqued it so naturally I tried to provide insight into my reasoning and defended my opinion. This is a message board for discussion about baseball, and that's what you're seeing from me.

You can see tonite what they were thinking regarding the "new" bullpen. Williams is Williams. Rogers isn't Hader if they're both on top of their games, but still pretty darn good. Bush, after what I've seen his last two times out, lengthens things considerably. Boxberger takes too much heat on here, but if Bush locates the breaking stuff like he has recently to go with upper 90s, he's better, and certainly a good late-inning option. And you still have Box & eventually Gott. CC has the pen depth he loves.

This'll be the way we win games, boys & girls. Just hope to see consistency.

Ok, I agree about the bullpen, but bullpens don't win games alone, we MUST figure out ways to score more runs than the other team, and rarely 1 or 2 won't get it done.

You can have the best bullpen on the planet, in the universe for that matter, but if we can't score runs, we will still lose a ton of games.

That’s true for critiquing the whole deal, but my discussions about this have been limited to whether the Brewers of 2022 are better off with Hader or Rogers. The Bush and Rosenthal deals could both have been made without the Hader deal.

i still feel pretty strongly that the Brewers did less to help themselves at the deadline than any other NL playoff contender, except for maybe the Dodgers, who are so strong already that they didn’t need to help, themselves.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

You do realize the poster I was responding to originally critiqued me for just looking at this season, so then I provided data from last three seasons that show that they've produced similarly. Any way you look at it, whether this season or the last three seasons, Rogers is not that far below Hader's level.

Dude, you are always fighting with someone about something.  Just chill out once in a while and allow others to have opinions that differ from yours.

Seriously, your constant conflict is getting old.

Sometimes you just have to let things go.

And that is something you won't find many who agree with you.

It's cool though, more than one opinion is what makes message boards fun.

All I'm saying is a BP that's both quality & has great depth is always going to be a huge part of what we do to try to get to the finish line. Now CC has that.

I too would love to see more offense.

All I did was defend one of my opinions when it came under criticism from others. How is that not allowing others to have opinions that differ from mine? lol Maybe they should just leave me alone and let me hold my opinion...

Are Cardinal fans seriously standing up for a Pujols at bat? And with one out?

He's going to be a first ballot HOFer and for many of the fans there that don't make it to a lot of games, that may be the last time they ever see him come up to bat in a meaningful situation in person.  I get it.
