Since July 1st

39IP 27H 8ER 10BB (5 In one game) 49K

So roughly 11k/9 (30%k) 2.5bb/9 (7%). Sub .200 batting average, sub 2.00 ERA, sub 1 WHIP. A Mid 3 FIP

Even more impressive, since May 12th:

Stat line: 78.2IP 59H 29ER 30BB 103K

11.78K/9 (31.5%),  3.43 BB/9 (9.5%) for a 22k% to bb%,

2.71 ERA / 4.00 FIP /.208 BAA, 1.14 WHIP

So he just keeps getting stronger! I say lets get this hype train rolling for the 20 year old!

Is it just me, or does this system seem antithetical to the Brewers system in the days of Mark Rogers, Zach Braddock, Kentrail Davis, Logan Schaffer, etc...the days when we had either guys with flashy tools and were pinning far too much hope on those guys hitting(Corey Ray) or somehow harnessing their talent?

Certainly there's always going to be an aspect of that(Joey Weimer is an example...HUGE tools...though he's also been pretty productive as well). Zach Vennaro is another guy who comes to mind, but it seems like we've had an outstanding year where our top prospects, our lower ranked prospects, "non-prospects," it seems like we're getting a lot of guys matching tools with production.

Or am I mis-remembering and is there a little recency bias going on here?

The 10 strikeouts for Cornielle is nice, as are the six shutout innings, but the bigger story is 0 walks. He has five walks in his last 34 innings over six starts. Considering that has been his biggest weakness this year and last, it is great to see the improvement. If this uptick in command sticks, it is fairly easy to think he’s got a good shot to see AA by midseason next year.

Watched the Rattlers game on TV tonight-what a joy it is to watch Jeferson Quero catch a ball game -makes it appear effortless-very smooth-also had a nice right-center triple that scored JC.

Wish I could find a good scouting report on his stuff. Anyone seen him and can give a report? Stevin Cruz tends to be the one that gets more of the hype of the two. They are only a few months apart and Cornielle is really starting to make people notice him more!

I pulled up a side by side of the two from time when Cruz got called

Cornielle (prior to tonights masterpiece)

72.2IP 57h 29er 8hr 30bb 93k ....11 hb/wp

Cruz

72.1IP 77h 37er 13er 18bb 89k.....9 hb/wp

Yeah, this has absolutely nothing to do with Delmarva. Nothing. It's just more success. Cornielle has been trending way up for some time. This just solidifies what we've been talking about for near two months.

Yes, Sir! He's a true joy to watch. In a post-game pod earlier this past week manager Joe Ayrault spoke to what those of us who had been following him in Carolina have been saying: total stud. He said this is the best catching prospect he's seen come through the system in quite some time. I have to agree. His ability to call a game, catch a game, throw runners out at every base, and a bonus of a rising bat is sublime. He's a total stud. I echo Bryce: welcome aboard!

This is just it. He's been trending up for literally months. He's cut back significantly on walks the past two with increasing strikeout totals. He's a rising young gun. Earlier this year, you could see the movement and the mound presence but he was just missing and innings got away from him. We've seen steady improvement and now we're seeing dominance. This is a very exciting season for a young arm.

This has been a very good year for the Brewers system as a whole. Just so much to be excited about. @CheeseheadInQChas made some very salient points the entire season about the International signings and the two-team wealth in the DSL and ACL. This shouldn't be underestimated as it deepens the pool, gives players more playing opportunities and more exposure, while giving positions that may take more time (ie catcher) time to develop with playing time to boot. The most impressive thing for my persistent watching eyes is the ability to withstand multiple promotions (from literally the ACL on up to the Big Club), coupled with trades and important vets departing via trade or release (ie Dahl and Almonte) and really not skip a beat. Then we see talented men like Ray (whom you mention above), Monasterio, and Whitley taking re-assignments and running with it and helping their teams and displaying the skills that made them high draft picks to begin with. There's a synergy going on we're witnessing across all levels. It's been a real pleasure to witness as a fan.

Mitchell 3-3 so far.  Wiemer with two hits and a walk.  Erceg with perhaps his best outing of his career.

No kidding. Holy cow Lucas! Incredible. Love to see it. Man, I continue to dream of his ascendance as a legit 7th-9th inning arm. He's so easy to root for and he has legitimate top-notch stuff if he can put it together. I sure hope it's with the Brewers.

Check out Ruiz’s speed on this one…….sure the cf bobbled the ball but to score from first on that?

And, then to lose it in the 10th. Wooooof. LOL. I'm telling you: Gwinnett and Nashville only play blow-outs and one-run games. It's insane. I think that's now 22 one-run decisions the past two season. Like, wutttt??

Also, I think Ruiz scores there even if he doesn't bobble. When he gets going on the basepaths...it's a sight. There is so much speed amongst Frelick, Mitchell, Ruiz, and Wiemer it's pretty ridiculous.

How dare you omit Turang!

Any updates on Ecerg's stuff? I know he's throwing in the upper 90s with the fastball and...the box score looked clean. How's the slider coming along(I thought it was a slider, not a curve...the breaking ball in any event)?

From May and June -

So without the velocities I see:

*Fastball with rise he attacks up in zone with

*2 steam with good late break action away

*A tighter slide with 1 to 7 break

*A change with good depth and fade to it.

Does that seem right? I like the life in the 2 seam. Tails pretty hard at the end.

That seems right to me. Good arm side run and late explosion on that Fastball. I can't tell what the velo is, but it looks like it might have a little of that Freddy Peralta deception to it. Looks like he hides it pretty well.

The breaking ball, looks like one is a slider that can be really good at time(of course we're seeing highlights here)...but good, sharp, late movement.

And then I thought I saw a curve in there. One that stayed up in the zone. Probably not where he's gonna want to throw that, but it was effective.

And then the change, I thought I saw a couple that looked good. Mostly FB/SL in those two.

I'd love to see an actual scouting report on him. I'm guessing that FB is in the 92-94 range. If he can add a couple MPH(or maybe he's already got them as I'm just guessing)...he could be a really nice prospect who should start in AA next year and from then....you're right on the doorstep.
