Nah, we're done.

I'm not willing to say they're done. But I certainly wouldn't bet my own money on them making the playoffs.

The only thing keeping me from slamming the door on their chances is the Padres inability to harness all that talent.

The Giants are the only other team than the Brewers with much of a chance for the last wildcard so they could get in by being slightly less bad than the Padres or Giants.

I think you have to get out the proverbial fork, they're done. Watching Rogers completely ignore the tying run on 2B and have that runner steal third standing up w/o a throw, is just unforgivable. Then watching the $26M man (Yelich) whiff with a runner in scoring position in extra innings and then commit an error to let a run score, is beyond frustrating. Seeing the Brewer OFs, especially Yelich, playing at medium depth with the winning run on 3B and less than 2 outs is mind boggling. And the losses keep coming.

Looking forward to the offseason overhaul more than whether or not we squeak out the last wild card only to head to Busch to let the Cardinals formally eliminate us.

Suppose it keeps the playoff streak going, if anyone places value in that.

Offseason overhaul = replacing Andrew McCutchen with Justin Upton and signing Rougned Odor to hold down Turang.

They’re done

They’ve been done

I wish they had played well for a few more weeks to bridge the gap to Packers football

I need someone else to root for

I hope we see the prospects soon

I find myself much more interested in watching the minor league games & reading the daily minor league game summaries

I no longer expect the Brewers to win … I just wince & hope

This has been a remarkably frustrating summer

The Phillies & Padres keep losing & leave the door cracked for the tumbling Brewers

I miss the old days when division winners made the playoffs & the rest of the teams prepared for next year

We are now five games behind the Cardinals … they have gained nine games on Milwaukee in the last month

No way we catch STL

It would take a miracle - & meltdowns by both Philly & San Diego - for the Brewers to sneak in the back door & get the final wild card (even with meltdowns, it is likely that one or both of them finish better than this lifeless 2022 Brew Crew)

It’s almost like the year of the year of the ”sweep suits” where the Brewers swept a 3 gamer at Wrigley to be 38-34, then wore some garish suits to Pittsburgh, got swept themselves and then dropped 60 of their next 90.

The ‘22 Brewers we’re riding high taking the first two games from the Red Sox at Fenway we’re up by 4 in their division, only to drop that last game and go 6-12, defacto lose the Division and be hanging in the 2nd wild card race by a thread.

I think they're a better bet to win the division than to be a wild card team.

The Yankees have been 3-12 recently; it's not that they suddenly became crap, it's because there is a lot of chance involved in winning baseball games.

Brewers could get on a winning streak at any time.  the sooner the better.

They 5 games out with 4 head to head with the Cardinals who have a very weak schedule the rest of the way. It’s over for the Central absent sweeping those four games

Don't mistake this for optimism because I think this team looks bad. But it never fails to amaze me how short people's memories are. There are 43 games to play. That's 1/4 of the season. We've seen, in very recent history, the Brewers bounce back from a worse standing with less time. It's by no means over yet. I'd bet on STL, but it's still not over. I just don't get the matter-of-fact "we're done" statements. Somebody chokes away a lead late almost every year.

It's baseball. Much stranger things have happened than a division leader falling back 5 games with an "easy schedule" with a month and a half to go.

You don't know baseball history. There are many cases of teams crashing and of other teams getting hot and coming from behind in the standings.

Latest from Fangraphs (3 of the 4 teams will make the playoffs):

The remaining strength of schedule is pretty similar.  Right now the Brewers are 2 GB (4 wins) to the Padres and 1.5 GB the Phillies for the last WC and as the percentages go it will be an interesting 42 games to go.

After that series with the Dodgers, both the Padres and Phillies strength of schedule went up while ours is the 4th lowest in baseball. Also worth noting, the Brewers took 3 of 7 from a Dodgers team that is absolutely on fire right now. They came to town on something like a 12 game winning streak, and in between our 2 series they beat up the Marlins to the tune of 19-4 over 3 games including a matchup against the likely Cy Young. We should be pretty darn pleased we were able to get 3 from this team at this given point in time(and here's hoping they are peaking too early).

Now of course, buckle down and rack up a nice winning streak against the bottom half teams and cement a spot in the wildcard.

I'm a little surprised the projection systems like SD as much as they do. They still have 9 games left with the Dodgers who have basically owned them for the last couple of years.

The Crew just completed a difficult 15 game stretch (TB/STL/LAD/CHC/LAD) at 7-8. I was hoping for 9-6 or 8-7, but while they lost ground to the Cardinals, the WC is still there for the taking.

Nevertheless, the Brewers need to play better as their next 18 games are against non-playoff contenders (CHC/PIT/ARZ/COL/SF/CIN). Hopefully at least 12-6 over this stretch would put them ahead of SD before the eight game stretch versus STL/NYY/NYM.

Yep. I wouldn't put my money on them being in the post-season (or not being in for that matter; betting on sports doesn't excite me), but i've seen way too much stuff over the years to not have developed a "let it play out" mentality. What's unfortunate is the cornerstone of what has made them successful isn't there. Aside from Burnes/Woodruff, they've come to expect solid work from the starters behind them, and if you can be .500 or even a bit better aside from your top 2 you're sitting pretty. This year those "other" starters have been poor or absent except for Lauer. Throw in an offense that is very intermittent & here we are. The search for consistency continues. It has to be discovered very, very soon.
