A Brewers win tonight paired with a Padres loss to the Luis Castillo led Mariners would certainly make a late season push for the last playoff spot seem a lot more attainable.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

In a vacuum, gaining 3 games with 20 to play is certainly attainable.

If you told me today that the Brewers wouldn’t lose any ground in the next 7 games, I would probably take it. 7 games against the Cardinals, Yankees, and Mets looks tough enough , but facing it with 3 of the 6 man rotation on the IL, a 4th SP still building up from an IL stint, and the bullpen wearing down, it’s going to be even tougher.

To stay afloat during this stretch, the Brewers are going to need great starts from Burnes and Woodruff and some big help from the offense like they have gotten the last two games.

Looking ahead, the Brewers figure to be facing Cole on Sunday, but might miss Bassitt and deGrom, who would be pitching Saturday and Sunday  if the Mets stay with their 5 day rotation. Scherzer could be coming off the IL to face the Brewers if his next bullpen session or simulated game is successful.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Trevor Gott pitched an inning last night. At this stage I don't know how much longer you want to keep him down there if he's healthy, especially with (I assume) more bullpen days to come.

To me Houser becomes a real key from here on out. His recent work has been encouraging. Of the starters missing it sounds like Lauer has the best chance of returning, maybe next week (fingers crossed?)

The Mariners are being more helpful today (up 3-0), but the ball appears to be carrying well so it might be a high scoring game.

Castillo has thrown 76 pitchers through 4 innings so the Mariners bullpen is probably going to have to cover 3 or 4 innings.

That is a lot of pitchers thrown hopefully they are all ok.

Castillo got through 6 and the Mariners have an elite bullpen, this will be an easy one for them to close out.

Wainwright appearing to get an expanded zone in all directions probably isn’t a good sign for how this is about to go.

Had to cash in those cheap hits.

Renfroe isn’t having a good month so far. Could really use one of those hot streaks.

And McCutchen missed a real meatball.

I’ve had enough of the gushing over Wainwright and Molina.

Do you think opposing announcers would do that about Brewers?

Sweet at bat Cutch.

That Yelich at bat was two bad calls. We'll see what Burnes gets.

I didn’t think the first one was so bad, but I was half expecting the umpire to go into his Frank Drebin routine on both of those called strikes.

You're right; the first strike was fine. Strike 3 was the joke.

Can’t come up with the big hit. Needed more than one out of those two innings.

I still cant believe Colorado basically gave Arenado to the Cards.

I can. Whoever manages that franchise be it the owner or the GM is a dope.
