Potential Pickups From The Non-Tendered

I would like Bellinger at 1B but he has more value in the OF. Also he probably gets 10+ with a ton of incentives which might be a bit to risky for us.

Voit wouldn't be bad as a DH, however I'd rather just use Rowdy at DH and find a new 1B.

Reyes Moronta, Ryan Yarbrough, Jorge Algaro, Raimel Tapia and Edwin Rios would all be interesting bench/end of bullpen 5th starter options.

We must sign Bellinger so we have all the NL MVPs who went into the dumpster soon after winning MVP.

More seriously, I don't know who Bellinger is any more. If he was a RHH and could platoon with Rowdy, it would make some sense.

Luke Voit and Alex Reyes please!

Luke at 1B and Devin, Alex at end of games! Oh yes!

We need more RH power, Voit would be a perfect fit on this team.

I can't see Voit. He is a RH hitter who hit .228/.306. with reverse splits against lefties (.174/.285). Only 21 RBIs for the year and strikeouts at a 31% rate. Plus he too is a neg. dWAR guy at 1B.  I think he could be a late p/u if they were desperate couldn't get anybody better and wanted to move on from Hiura.  Reyes didn't pitch in 2022 due to shoulder surgery. He has had some setbacks in his recovery according to reports from St Louis and that's why the Cards let him go. He walks a ton of guys (6/per 9 IPs for his career), but IMO he would be well worth it if he's fully recovered and they could get him for $3M or so.

Are any of the non-tendered players possible upgrades for the Brewers?

Could Cody Bellinger be a rebound candidate?

Brian Anderson as an option at third?

Could Luke Voit be an option at 1B/DH?

I always liked Brian Anderson. He had a nice, all around game. Injuries seemed to have really affected him.

I'd like Edwin Rios as a low risk pickup.  He can definitely hit, just needs to stay healthy.  He's not a great 3b but he can play the position and would be a nice power platoon bat with Urias.  If they trade Wong, I like them to pick up Brian Anderson.  He would be a great bounce back candidate with more HR potential playing at Am Fam.

I'd pick up Jeimer Candelario in a heartbeat.  He's one year removed from leading the AL in doubles with 42.  He got off to a terrible start in 2022, but was better in the 2nd half and hit .321 and slugged .464 over his final 16 games.  A switch hitter with power from both sides, I think his BA will increase from the left side with the new shift rules.  His best years are near All Star worthy and he'll be 29 in 2002.

We could add a LHP like Anthony Gose or Jarlin Garcia.

Gose had Tommy John surgery late in the 2022 season.  He is not expected to pitch at all in 2023.

There is a chance he signs a 2 yr minor league deal with CLE so he can rehab his way back and then pitch in 2024..

According to Ken Rosenthal, Cody Bellinger’s agent Scott Boras has indicated that they’ve already received a couple of mulit-year offers, but they are more inclined to accept a one year offer (presumably so the 27-year old Bellinger can reestablish some value with a good year). I don’t think it’s a perfect fit if the Brewers are serious about giving some of their “ready for the majors prospects” a chance, but Bellinger can play a pretty solid center field. Highly unlikely, but I also think there’s some truth to the idea that there is [almost] no such thing as a bad one year deal.

Candelario is a player I’d also be interested in on a short term commitment. He isn’t that far removed from being a good hitter in a home park that’s tough on batters, and he’s still young-ish (turns 29 later this month). I would bet on him to bounce back to being a league average or better hitter, and hopefully someone that could play both infield corners similar to how the switch-hitting Eduardo Escobar was used after being acquired in 2021 (played in 34 games at 3B and 18 games at 1B).

Except with this team. We don’t need anyone coming in taking playing time away from our big-league ready OF’s.

Time to allow for the development to begin of some of our Nashville OF’s. Talent & pre-arby salaries this team needs in spades asap.

I think the Blue Jays will be the ones to end up with Bellinger.  The fit there is almost perfect it also means they can trade one of their catchers for a decent pitcher instead of trading for a CF.

I am not sure Candelario will bounce back as a lot of his advanced metrics are pointing downwards.  Also I don't believe he would be much of an improvement over Urias at 3B defensively actually he is probably a downgrade over Urias defensively at 3B.  Candelario would have to put in another 2020 season to be an improvement both offensively and defensively over Urias.  If Candelario is replacing Peterson or is just another bench option then sure he would be a good addition.  I don't see Candelario being an everyday player or expected to be an everyday player.

Not a non-tender but I don't feel like starting a thread just for him. Evan Longoria seems exactly like the kind of guy Stearns would have signed - veteran, downside of career, one year deal, fills a positional need. For as much as he has declined he still would have been one of the better hitters on this team last year.

I would really like Brian Anderson, dude can play 3B.

Add Anderson, Alex Reyes and I would be very happy!!

Brian Anderson is a really good player and wasn't that bad last year. Strange non-tender even given that he hasn't been able to stay healthy.

Anderson is intriguing, I'd think a two-year deal with a team option might be doable:

2023: $3.75 million + $250K signing bonus

2024: $4 million

2025: $5 million w/$1 million buyout.
