Well that was fun while it lasted.  No way we were going to offer him 3 years and I'm glad we didn't.  My guess is that it will be in the $18-20 million per year range.

Agreed, glad we didnt sign him... Really hope we roll with Tellez at 1B and Yelich at DH, both are going to benefit from no shifts going forward.

Add a RH power OF bat and we'll be good to go.

Yep, sounds like 3 yrs, $60 M.

He was the top FA I wanted but we couldn’t beat that offer

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Free agency might be rather boring for Milwaukee this year.  Other than Abreu, who else makes sense?  It's nothing but shortstops, pitchers and outfielders - none of which we really need.  Maybe Mancini at 1B?  Anything exciting we do will have to come via trade.

Vazquez at catcher. Projected for 3/27 by MLBTR. Since 2019 is 8th in catcher WAR at 6.8. More of a defensive backstop with +22 DRS (3rd) and +20.7 FRM (4th), though his 95 wRC+ is still above average for the position.

Could also see Brantley as an option in the DH/5th OF role McCutchen had last year. Projected for 1/15 by MLBTR.

Ross Stripling (projected 2/18 by MLBTR) might also be in our price range and had a nice bounce back season with Toronto last year. Has that LAD pedigree and has the versatility to start or come out of the pen.

Yea I would love to add Vazquez.

Along with Brian Anderson to play 3B and then Mitch Haniger or Michael Conforto to play RF.

With multiple SS looking for big time money and only a handful of teams capable of handing out 6-7 year for 200 mil type contracts it could be feasible to be involved with one of them on a one year deal with an option so they can re-enter FA next year without the other SS FAs.  Basically like the Correa deal of last year.  With either the FA or Adames moving to primary 3B.   Of course, I view this as very low but it could be possible.

Forgot about Vazquez.  I'd be down for that!

a high-leverage relief pitcher would be good. Or catcher.

MLB Trade Rumors was right on point with their $20 million a year but he was able to get a third year. Obviously no way the Brewers were going to give him that.

Well, they do have three young pitchers with six years of control now that they can dangle in a trade...

(*ducks and runs for cover*)
