thanks  for the Picture

i didn't think i had to announce his name

Toro  is the dark horse   here

Mark my words: barring injury to some player, Toro and Miller are going to keep Turang off the major league roster until the super 2 deadline has passed (sometime in June).

Agree off the 26 to start the year but 50/50 he’s held till S2, could be brought-up 3rd week of April.

If they acquire somebody else better that could happen but don't see it with those two guys. The Brewers are trying to win.

I’m sure you didn’t need to announce his name or share a picture … Yount is my all-time favorite Brewer (baseball player, for that matter), so I have tons of good pics tucked away looking for opportunities to post ?

Disagreement on topic is encouraged.

But we can disagree without being disagreeable.

I still assume Huira will be dealt. Are there any moderately expensive relievers with a good track record out there? Free agents might be a tad too expensive, but someone a notch above Boxberger but more expensive might be an attractive swap for both teams.

Who is going to want to trade for Huira?  If I were a GM why would I want to give up any assets for a marginal player like him instead of waiting until Huira is DFA?

Had a thought that the Rockies are so out of touch with the rest of MLB, and they have the perfect stadium for Keston (or any hitter really) to have success that maybe we could dump him off on them, but they have Cron, Bryant and Blackmon already for the 1B/DH mix so not really a clear path to playing time there.

I’d take any teenager in the DSL with a nice K/BB ratio at this point, and I’d guess the Brewers front office would too.

That such a deal hasn’t happened yet likely means that GMs for rebuilding clubs are just waiting out that inevitable DFA.

Checking the current 1B/DH projections at FanGraphs it looks like the A’s, Nationals, Tigers and Marlins are the non-divisional teams that could “use” Keston the most if there is a deal to be made somewhere out there.

Without double checking all the historical roster details there are plenty of times over the last 25 years I'd have happily traded one of our veteran relievers for a player like Huira, and not hope we'd somehow win the chance to snag him if non-tendered. There is still a fair bit of cheap team control there, he can plausibly perform and the roster spot as well as providing a really big upside still that is hard to find. It's high risk to be sure, but for a non-contending team the possibility of that big break-out is a lot more valuable then say getting a Garret Cooper level performance.

I guarantee there is a GM who wanted to draft Hiura, and who wants to rectify his error by acquiring him on the cheap.

I hope you are right.  It would be nice to get something for him.

Yeah, I'm pretty curious about this outcome as well.

On the one hand, if another team claims him, it suggests that he's good enough defensively to stay on a 40-man. On the other hand, if no teams claim him, he's not(?)

I still have hope that he becomes competant behind the dish. I don't have any evidence of this, but I feel like catchers develop late. They usually are either advanced hitters OR catchers, but rarely both.

It appears the deal to acquire Owen Miller was for cash.

This from Fangraphs:

The Milwaukee Brewers made a shrewd move when they acquired Owen Miller from the Cleveland Guardians last December in exchange for cash (thanks to The Athletic’s Zack Meisel for confirming that it was a cash transaction with no PTBNL involved).

Serves Cleveland right for having boatload after boatload of IF prospects and a subsequent 40-man issue.
