This game feels like it might set the tone for the remainder of this difficult 3-city western roadtrip. Hopefully the boys are ready to go after the highs of this past home-stand...

If this turns out to be true they will be under .500 when they come home next week.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Of course they were? Never denied that?

It seems you don’t want to acknowledge the Brewers have played absolutely atrocious. I’m not sure perfect umpiring was worth 4+ runs.

Not one person has said they played well tonight and I doubt anyone will.

Nor did I say the umpire was anywhere near good or that the D Backs didn’t get a ton of calls.

Yelich swung over the top of three pitches. I swear he was lower in his stance pre-injury. He was lower like an alley cat ready to pounce.

The amazing part is the fact he is basically golfing at them…yet still smashing them into the ground.

Its concerning to be shut out three times in ten games.  This one especially was one of the worst efforts I've ever seen at the plate.  I can't really think of a single hard hit ball all game.

I agree on both counts.  I mean, a bad performance now and again is not a big deal, every team has them.  Getting shut out that often is weird given how the offense has performed otherwise.

Just remember it's the first road game traveling from home on b2b day/night this season. And it was 90s at game start. Get some rest come our better tomorrow.

Like I said earlier. Game 1 similarities.  Bad ump strike zone early. We won game 2&3.

First AB I saw was the Brewers 3-0 down, and Joey Wiemer called out on a ball miles inside the strike zone, tough break for him and the crew.

Galen's struggled at times because hitters have laid off his curveball well and he's hung a few in his first few starts, clearly the expanded zone helped last night, but also some insane break on that pitch. Good lord

When the ump is calling balls outside the zone strikes you almost have to swing at crap.   You won't get rewarded for being patient at the plate under these circumstances.  Lousy umps can ruin baseball.

It's not great but it happens, sometimes for you and sometimes against, though I can't recall the Brewers having a ton of luck so far

Out of curiosity, does a manager giving his 2 cents and heading for a cold shower ever seem to do anything?

It makes people on a message board happy.

Here we go!

The overall numbers aren't as bad as I expected, however, 20% of his called strikes were actually balls, that's awful. And I really do think he got into the Brewers' hitters' heads with the bad calls which likely caused a bigger run discrepancy than just the 1.49 runs his calls directly caused.
