The Brewers were probably going to go with a 6-man rotation anyways for this long road trip as the Brewers don't have an off day until 4/20.  That is a long time to go without an off day on the road.  I think that is probably why they are overly cautious on this.

Woodruff costing himself in free agency with his inability to pitch over 170 innings...Maybe he'll price himself back into our range.

You never want to hear the words "shoulder inflammation".

Woodruff getting pulled early 5 1/3rd and no sign of disagree must be a sign something was wrong.  Guess CC wasn't setting up the bullpen for overuse by the end of the week. Injuries are.

Yah, clearly was pulled for more than being tired.

Increases the odds that he resigns which is good

Can never have enough starting pitching depth.  Not even two weeks in and it's being tested.  Even if Houser was rushed back for a 2-3 inning relief role we're probably looking at two more weeks.

I never get this argument - starting pitcher who's primary value is be able to take the ball every 5th or 6th day and dominate a game starts having arm trouble and misses starts, so yay we can maybe sign him to a contract extension that is still a bad idea for a small market team and we get to watch his arm completely fall off while paying him $20M+ a year to rehab.

Hoping it's of the utmost precaution and this doesn't become a longterm concern with Woody.

My point was that his value could be decreasing and they could sign him. He has been relatively healthy and effective as a major leaguer so if teams shy away from him good for Milwaukee. Obviously anytime you make a major salary and time commitment with any starting pitcher, it’s a risk. I think this is all minor anyway and woody has a better chance to resign than burnes or adames with the brewers.

First of all, any DL stint for our big three (Woodruff/Burnes/Peralta) is bad news. That said, I think that being cautious is the right move for the Crew and for Woodruff. Best to take the time now, and figure out what's up now, and maybe it doesn't end up an Ashby situation - or worse, a Neugebauer.

That said... this is why waiving Brent Suter was probably not the best of ideas.

What’s Brent Suter provided that Bryse Wilson hasn’t? And Wilson is more than $2 million cheaper, which is why they non-tendered Suter in the first place.

This really stressed me out when I heard the news.  I hate shoulder issues.  It almost always leads to more issues.  I really hope it's just the team being extra cautious, which they should be.

I sure hope the front office finds out the long term outlook for Woodruff’s shoulder before they commit to a long term contract (i.e.; Yelich). If I remember correctly that it was Woodruff that pulled himself out in his last start with a tired arm. Any time I read shoulder/Brewer pitcher, I get very nervous due to their shoulder history (Higuera, Sheets, Ashby, etc.). Because of this personally I would hold off signing Woody to an extension.

Boy that surplus starting pitcher situation sure dried up in a hurry…….Ashby,Houser and Woody all on IL at same time……just in time for when they need a 6 man rotation.

Spahn (Burnes), Sain (Peralta), and pray for rain. Too bad we're in SD, where it never rains...

But, yeah, we need Woody and Houser back, and for Gasser to figure out his control in AAA.

Rea also set to start for the Crew tonight, ugh.

He has been good so far, guess I just needed to complain about him being called up to start for some good luck :)
