A day off, new road trip, new opponent! Both teams have been underwhelming this season and it's a good opportunity for the Brewers to get back on track with Miley, Peralta, and Burnes going in the series.

I'm extra invested in this series because if the Brewers do their job, they're both helping themselves get back into first place and putting some distance between the Guardians and Twins.

Get it done!

Another Ace! Or so i thought, there is a lot of blue numbers on Bieber's statcast, he's striking out barely any at the moment (69 in 95 innings)

20th percentile or below in:

Expected slugging

Strikeout rate

Expected batting average

Average exit velocity

Hard hit percentage

Fastball velocity

His expected ERA is 4.86

Fastball has been poorly located, very much center cut (heads of Wiemer & Yelich perk up at that) resulting in it getting hit hard and often as has the cutter

His changeup to lefties has also been hammered but the breaking pitches have bailed him out, the only ones where he seems to control the pitch well

If you can lay off the slider down and away (its mostly out of zone) you're in business

Also, he has a 1.55 WHIP to lefties, including eight of his eleven home runs

Has struggled to strike out right handers but has much performed better overall against them (mostly due to the slider)

Yeah, this version of Bieber is not the Bieber of old.

His penutlimate start was a 9K, 7 inning, No run effort against the Astros, so he still has it in him. The D'backs torched him last time out, but he still went 7 innings, so I'm expecting him to eat innings

Oh yeah, he's still pretty good, he's just not Cy Young Bieber anymore.

Feels a bit like what we're seeing with Corbin Burnes, unfortunately.

Guardians offense (88 wRC+ | 3.96 R/G) is in the same neighborhood (homeless encampment?) as the the Brewers offense (85 wRC+ | 4.03 R/G) so far this year.

They are killing us on K% (19.1 vs 25.7), but those six or seven extra balls in play per 100 PAs haven’t really helped them out all that much.

No power. Not striking out and swiping bags is only useful if you can occasionally drive a guy in. Same outcomes as Milwaukee, different path there.

Jose Ramirez has been smoking hot for the last two weeks (OPS 1.307) after a relatively tepid first two months.

He’s the type of star who can carry a team; the Brewers have to do their best to neutralize him.

It’s a rainy, muggy day here in north Fort Worth TX. I’ll be home tonight & plan to watch the game start to finish. Here’s hoping the Brewers have a “rare” great game. I love baseball but this team has been hard to watch recently. A little offense … 5 runs would be great … & it will be an enjoyable evening.

You  might want to take a closer look at the Bieber start vs the D'backs.

The CLE bullpen was toast by the end of that went coast road trip where the longest start had been into the 4th inning. Bieber pitched well outside of a 2 run homer thru 7 innings.  His pitch count was in the 80s so he went out for the 8th inning and he fully imploded.

With a normal bullpen setup it is likely Tito goes to the pen in the 8th & then its back to back starts where it appears like the Cy Bieber has returned.

Almost every pitcher looks CY caliber against this offense.  Bieber will have a good start tonight.

Reds will make a game of it.  That offense just does not quit.

Bieber might not have been striking out many, but the Brewers are the antidote to whatever ails a pitcher in that department.

5-4 now in the third as de la Cruz homers after an earlier double.

Fortunately the Cleveland lineup looks just as inept and Miley has been just a bit better/more lucky than Bieber.

I think at bats like Adames just had are much more indicative of the offensive struggles than the pitchers they face.

Levering loves to make excuses for the Brewers.
