I don't really know how you can blame a GM for not predicting that. 

Also , considering the limited budget . I would  say that his failure could be that with the  new rule changes that we seem to be still stuck with our whole approach at the plate. After watching Arizona , I really admired how they made things happen on offence , putting a lot of pressure on the opposing pitcher and defense ! I kinda thought that's what we would do , but it seems we just hack away no matter the situation .

I think being able to slide into a base in a way that allows the runner to hold the base is a skill. Oversliding like that suggests to me that he was a little out of control, not just a victim of bad luck.

I may have missed the analysis, but why is burnes k/9 rate down so much? Is his spin rate down?

2021 cutter: 95.2 MPH | 2767 spin rate | 32.1 whiff% | 145 stuff+ | 105 location+

2023 cutter: 94.3 MPH | 2644 spin rate | 24.9 whiff% | 126 stuff+ | 99 location+

Looks like the pitch has lost some of its raw effectiveness and Corbin has also been less precise with his command.

During one of his games, the announcers were talking about how people started keying off his pitch location also.  Swinging at the high FBs and letting the low pitches go.  If he can't get strikes on his low pitches, he struggles getting hit with his high stuff.

The two records are a fact. But IMHO it is very questionable that that is anything other than a coincidence, as opposed to there being any correlation.

A lot of Brewer hitters who got off to good starts have struggled since that hot start. I seriously doubt that Mitchell’s injury has caused Tellez, Adames, et al to slump.

Mitchell’s very high K rate does not look like the sign of a guy who’s going to carry the offense. In fact, some of the posters here who are generally beating the drum for the prospects were saying that Mitchell might be a candidate to be sent down.
