40-man roster discussion

I'm surprised the Brewers did not make any trades today to take advantage of their open 40 man spots.  However, there are a few players who were DFA'd by their teams today that could be interesting for the Brewers.  Eddys Leonard, a 23 year old 3b/U had a 781 OPS with Detroit's AAA last year.  26 year old Eric Wagaman (3b/OF) had a 808 OPS over AA/AAA plus a cup of coffee with the Angels last year. 23 year old George Valera was once a top 50 prospect but will miss half of next year due to injury and is out of options. Still he has plenty of tools and hit 17 HR in 90 games for Cleveland's AAA club. and has a career 810 OPS in the minors.

If I counted right it looks like the 40 Man is now full up with 22 pitchers and 18 positionals.

Any future additions would require an accompanying subtraction.

Jay, Capra and Hicklen would be my best guesses as the guys whose spots are most tenuous.

The Brewers signed LHP Grant Wolfram the other day. Not sure if there was a  corresponding move but he is listed on the 40-man roster.

They had 37 on the roster before picking up Wolfram & Connor Thomas.  When they traded Devin, they replaced him with two 40-man guys.  Thus Sveumrules' post.

I believe his playing days are done now.  I'm glad he parlayed that nice '22 season he had with us into a good payout to finish his career.  He really played a good 3B for the Brewers that summer.  Also of course glad it wasn't MIL paying him $9.5m OAK signed him to.
