Hey Arnold how is that run prevention all in strategy working out. Sorry but there is no excuse for having an offense this terrible and giving away Urias who has the potential to help this lineup.

You know who makes that play at 3B?

Brian Anderson. He'll be back soon. We need him at the hot corner.

Anderson is generally good but we can’t forget the bad throw he made that contributed to a bad loss against the Cubs.

No guarantee he doesn’t do the same thing today.

He chose the young SP as a future run preventer over Urias' sub-par defense&offense lately.

In the analytics era, one of the new proclamations that's come out of that is how the RBI is an irrelevent, over-rated stat. I've never agreed with that because it often measures something immeasurable--whether or not a moment is too big for a player. They lost this game with the 2nd & 3rd, no one out fiasco after the Yelich double.

The double whammy is that now they go to the Pirates series with the bullpen short tomorrow after heavy use the last two days.

Yeah, Urias was doing little to nothing to make anyone feel he'd be a difference-maker this year.

And he wasn't given away.

The worst part if this is the beginning of a collapse is that it happened a few weeks too late so we didn't cash in on Burnes.

He'll be worth more this offseason, when there are more bidders.

I hope we win the division but frankly either of the Reds or Cubs would be far more enjoyable teams for the fans of MLB to watch.

And probably looking at a short start from Woody Sunday, unless they hold him back till next week.

There's got to be a future game here when Woodruff returns that Houser closes out a start returning to bullpen and gives the rest of bullpen a day off.

Also see Eric Lauer has returned to pitching 2 games thus far. Gotta assume he'd pitch a long man inning eating game.

I think he was worth more now when a contender would have him for two playoff runs.

Exactly. I can see all the GMs around baseball this winter. "YOU GUYS COLLAPSED!!!!!!! WE AREN'T GIVING YOU ANYTHING FOR BURNES!!!!!"

Two playoff runs vs one is the difference you choose to ignore.

Woody did manage to get his pitch count up to 72 in his Nashville outing. I'd say he might be ready for 80 pitches in his return start. Apparently, they are going to visit with him in Milwaukee tomorrow to see where he's at and where they go from here.

(You may already know this just sharing in case you do not)

I have been out of touch all day but just saw the score. If I have enough nerve, I will scroll through these posts to see what happened. But probably not.

Tbh, the returns for trades have declined quite a bit. It's probably just better to hold on to him and use the draft pick return on a QO better nowadays. Besides the team is close with the addition of young bats next season on top of improved hitting from the 4 rookies this year to return Burnes for 1 last WS push before the departure on pitching impacts them the following seasons.

Not ignoring anything, just weighing the options & consequences. Look, they weren't going to trade him this summer if they're in the hunt for a division title, regardless of how weak, strong, or in-between that division is. They chose not to torpedo that hunt. You thought they should, I guess that's what makes the world go around. Pretty sure you'll never see a team in their position selling based on "yeah, we'll make the playoffs, but we can't advance anyway".

With the encouraging way we've handled recent drafts, the extra pick(s) would be another superior alternative. It'll depend on what they hear from other teams this winter, but it's an option.
