So I saw this on reddit by a guy who seems to be closeish to Mark Attanasio, nothing truly hyperbolic here, but can't verify the validity at all

Anyway worth a gander!

I'm back from a long stretch of games. Some good some bad. Most intoxicated. Still am so if there's ramblings I apologize I'll edit when sober. But I want to get in what I remember. So I'm sure you don't care how his kids are doing or what his wife has been up to. So onto Brewers stuff.

Trade deadline. We talked about a lot but not really anything at the same time. I asked him who we were in on. I guess we 'checked in' on literally everyone that was a popular name. Most were to see if a deal could be snuck in or piggy back on something like Contreras in the off season. Yes there was a call about Ohtani, Soto, Snell, calls to the Cardinals and Mariners and pretty much a conversation with every team. There were calls and offers for Burnes but they weren't going to make the mistake of trading someone again when they're in first.

Some trades that were proposed or targeted. They were in on package deals for big trades. There was a back and forth for Eloy from Chicago. Chicago wanted one of our 3 outfield prospects (Mitchell is excluded currently due to injury). In order to do that Milwaukee wanted Cease part of the package. Chicago wanted an outfield plus Misiorowski or Quero and additional lottery. There was no budge on there. They revisited a few other options with Eloy and without and had some throw in with Joe Kelly but Milwaukee walked away.

There was also talk of a package with Canha and Scherzer coming over. They actually didn't want a ton. None of the outfielders were brought up. It was mostly centered around pitching. Uribe and Gasser were brought up the most. New York liked their package from Texas more and walked.

There was also an offer for Candelario. It's of their opinion Chicago over paid. Which isn't a bad thing for a division rival but doesn't look like an over pay in the short term.

I asked if Hader was ever brought back up and I guess they would never trade back for him at least not at a fair market price. It would basically admit you were wrong about the trade and in the end lose out on a year of him.

Counsell is expected to stay. He has probably the most roster control of any manager in the league. He's well liked and respected. The only thing drawing him away is wanting to be the family man. Don't expect him to leave for another team. If he hangs it up he would still likely have an office role or something if he wanted it. I asked if there's any chance he follows Stearns to New York he said 0%. Biggest person you should be worried about leaving is Chris Hook. He's going to have a lot of teams offering big money.

Speaking of Stearns to New York. That's basically confirmed but not. Stearns is gone after this year. It's been no secret New York is going to throw money at Stearns and have him build up the roster there. If you're concerned about him sending chips over to New York while in Milwaukee I'm told any dealings with the Mets he has no part in.

We had a lot of discussion about Wiemer and all the young outfielders. Even met Joey briefly. Cool dude. Anyways they know there's a jam coming up and they'll have to make a decision on who to keep or how they move around. They see Mitchell as the center fielder with Chourio in right and Yelich in left or DH. Yelich hasn't been receptive to going to 1B at least not right now. That leaves Wiemer and Frelick for left or DH. If all 4 young guys work out they'll trade one for high value. Likely not Chourio but even if there's a good offer they'll make a business decision. Basically got a non answer for who's most likely to go but I read it as Joey or Sal... Then Sal hit a dong.

Brewers on deck. Players disliked it. COVID ruined it and let them shut it down. It's marketed as a family event and meet the players. It ended up being autograph grabbers wanting stuff signed and players were getting burnt out and alumni weren't enjoying it so much. Maybe in the future but it's not in the plan the next few years.

Stadium stuff. The stadium is in fairly rough shape. The money they want isn't to get bougie stuff. There's structural things that need work. The roof needs a lot of replacements and upgrades. The fan zones need work. Things are more cramped than they'd like and more than what's safe. Mark isn't leaving Milwaukee. It's too good for him there. And the Brewers are good for the state and the Milwaukee area. A deal will get done but it's politics so it'll go to last minute and see who flinches first. Speaking of Mark and money though. The team is more profitable than what's lead to believe. If these stadium upgrades weren't needed and having money set aside each year in case of emergency type situation the payroll could be much higher. It could reasonably be in the 160-180 million per year. But about 40 million has been set aside the last few years for stadium stuff it's estimated.

Keston. If he could play ******* defense he would be up. They feel he can't come off the bench and DH. It's just such a hard job and he needs to play the field. There's just too much blocking him currently. Be prepared to say good bye to Keston. He maybe gets one more chance but most likely he's done with Milwaukee. He needs a change of scenery.

(Just going down the questions in the previous post and answering best I can) As far as untouchables there really aren't any. The closest there was was Burnes. And while yes it has a lot to do with skill. They won't trade a guy that's leading their rotation while in 1st and had a bad arbitration fall out. Speaking of that I asked what happened. Apparently Burnes side argued the Brewers aren't a playoff team without him. Brewers side argued they weren't a playoff team with him and displayed his numbers for the end of the year. That was taken as Burnes is the reason they didn't make the playoffs.

I can't touch on Lauer. Even the person I was talking to wouldn't say. I read it as more than injury but I won't speculate since I have no basis for that information.

Hank the dog is still around. He's old. The owners brought him to bark at the park last year.

Urias stuff. It was a combination. He was open to a move. Evaluations saw more negative coming. They cut ties when they could.

Contracts with Burnes Woodruff Adames. They're not actively negotiating with either. I asked for chances each signs with Milwaukee again. He gave Woodruff 85% Adames 35% and Burnes less than 1%.

Jersey sponsor. He was mostly joking around with it and said Harley Davidson or Kwik Trip. But said realistically it'll probably be a vehicle manufacturer or mobile carrier.

Future stuff. Rookies are playing above their expected level and progressing well. They expect to be fighting in the central for years. There will likely be one shake up trade this off season just to clear log jams. I asked if Ohtani is coming to Milwaukee. Obviously no but any team can afford to pay him since he brings in so much money. If he gets a $500 million contract he will bring in that much revenue for the team over 10 years if MLB gets their head on straight with marketing. There's also plans in the works to be off Bally and streamed by MLB likely next year. This is probably Brian Anderson's last year announcing as well. Word is he has some exclusive national contract offers. Brewers still have the trade philosophy of only trade if we win the trade so that'll continue. That's all I have for now. I might remember a few things later. Remember... Brewers are great, beer is good, and **** the Cubs

HH19 made his way to reddit...

My thoughts exactly.  No one to challenge the connections or show errors when his random predictions don't come true.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The only thing he got right was the Candelario but it wasn't an overpay as the Brewers offered the same value to the Nationals in Adams and Lara who are very similar prospects to what the Cubs gave up.  I was told by a Nationals insider the Brewers offer was close to being accepted but they liked the Cubs prospects more.  This wasn't a Quintana situation where the Cubs went fully overboard and overpaid.

Is this the same person that said a massive Adames extension was coming shortly before the season?

I believe it is and I believe they posted this around the same times there were rumors of the Brewers talking with Adames about an extension.  From what I was told neither side got very far other than exchanging that each party was interested in an extension.  That is as far as an extension for Adames got.  This is from a friend of Adames agent so take it with a really small grain of salt.

I would be skeptical of the team planning on keeping Mitchell over Wiemer and Frelick. Mitchell's underlying data and injury history scream sell-high compared to Frelick, who is basically as sure of a thing with the bat as we've seen coming from our farm over the past decade.

Not unless he is here with a new user name.  High Heat was banned for breaking forum rules at least a year before the migration to brewerfanatic.com.

As would I.

And if we offered Adams & Lara for Candelario I'm glad they turned it down. I probably would've done Lara & Guilarte or something like that.

It was the same Reddit poster. Funny enough I looked back at their Reddit posts.

Last Thanksgiving - Adames was going to sign a 7/$100M within a month

Last December - Adames was asking for 10/$270M

Seems like that Reddit poster is totally full of crap and we probably shouldn’t be sharing his post as if anything in it was true.

Sorry, I misunderstood your Q; thinking you were referring to someone posting that here.

Frelick is better than Mitchell and Wiemer and thats the exact order of how I would rank them.

If the offer was actually Lara and Adams, I'm fine seeing them roll with Anderson/Monastario at 3B. Toro I guess later on.

That's just too much. That's two potential top 100 prospects as early as next year for a rental.

I'm skeptical they could operate at a 180M payroll. It makes all the sense in the world that they're setting money aside for the stadium(though if they're going to pay for the stadium, then they should own the stadium). I don't believe it's 40M a year...or rather if it is, I don't believe they'd ever just take that 40M and put that right back into the team.

If this was true, I'd be disappointed about them being kinda luke warm on Chourio. I don't know, most of it just seems like things you could make an educated guess on while pretending to be an insider. It's been reported they haven't offered Burnes, Woody or Adames extensions until Willy was this off-season(at least not since 2020, wouldn't be surprised if they offered the Peralta/Ashby extension after '19).

I doubt Mark A would like a friend coming back and sharing all this information. At BEST I'd bet this is a guy who is friends with Attanasio's kids(just...at best).

Attanasio isn't in the day to day. He's kept apprised of the impending moves or the front office runs them past him, but as far as I understand it, he's taken a step back and isn't in on every trade call or FA move. So again, just benefit of the doubt, I'd buy this is what Mark A is getting, passing SOME of the information onto his son and then his son is asking and he's just kinda throwing BSing him a bit. "Yeah, they checked in on Ohtani and all the big names, too expensive, Burnes 1% chance he signs," which...that last part is truly breaking news!

I'll remember not to share again given his past history! None of it looked too hyperbolic so wasn't sure

Oh, it is interesting stuff... sometimes comical...

I've seen a couple times where the old "I was hanging out with my buddy <insert name> and they told me all these private plans and things that I will now share on the internet" and I have to wonder... if what were actually true, how long with that person be friends with that person?

If I suddenly shared all my company's plans and secrets on the internet, I'd be quickly fired.
