Facing a lefty-on-lefty match-up, Morales walked him on 5 pitches. Bases juiced. Fear not, I say fine T-Rats brethren! He strikes out the very dangerous DH Matt Nelson on 3 straight pitches. Gutsy performance, Mr. Morales! He inherits two more runners who do not score. A beautiful strike three tailing two-seamer (?) 92 mph heater that left the zone entirely. Great choice there - don't give him anything.

Wilken is probably a little too patient at the plate right now. Just looks at 3 straight pitches to strike out on 3 pitches.

Boeve hits his 3rd RBI of the night. A two-out insurance run. Beautiful piece of hitting. He takes a 1-2 sinking curve and rips a liner into CF to plate Moore who had just sneakily stolen 2B. You love to see that. Such a sweet swing on that knock. 7-3 T-Rats. Wilken now to the dish.

I think, after those two straight off-speed dimes, he wasn't looking 98mph right on the inner stripe. Obviously, you'd like him to protect there. But, it definitely looked like he was frozen.

If the T-Rats can hold on and win this, they'll remain 2.0 GB of Peoria but gain games on everyone else in the Division. Peoria is pretty hot right now.

Here's our CF Luis Lara moment of Zen. The young man makes so many improbable catches with his jumps in CF. This one is up there. Saved Fitzpatrick's debut line:

It's not just from that AB. It's a reputation he has had dating back to college that has seemed to carry over to A+ so far.

Morales strands two in the 8th. Boy, Dayton has stranded a lot of runners.

Checks Box. Yup: 1-for-13 with RISP. Woof.

Timber Rattlers not much better at 3-13 tonight.

Hall rips a screamer to the LF wall. Another four hit night for underrated Alex Hall. Man has he been swinging a beautiful bat in the past month plus. He plates Gray Jr. who had reached 2B via an E5.

LF Terence Doston. He just always finds ways to surprise you. He just turned on an inside pitch and ripped a double deep to the RF corner. Hall scores. 9-3 T-Rats now. Man, Doston. He just always shows up.

T-Rats win 9-3. 2-0 series lead. Two games over 0.500 in the second half at 18-16. As alluded to above, 2.0 GB the Peoria Chiefs. Only 3.0 GB the first place (but 2nd half irrelevant - first half champ) Cedar Rapids Kernels.

I get that he’s at a low level but Boeve sure looks like he has a tremendous hit tool.  The power has been a pleasant surprise but let’s see if that keeps going.  It wasn’t his track record in college.

I think the promotion of Misiorowski may have been a bit premature.  It was like a whirlwind with the T-Rats, almost like he wasn't even there.

Disagree.

Even with all the command & control problems he still K’d 9 in less than 4 innings. This guy needs challenged, not babied.

His high EV’s suggest it’s not a mirage. This is a steal of a draft-pick.

Just looking through the Mudcats lineup, I think the Timber Rattlers are going to be a lot of fun to follow next year with guys like Lara, Guilarte, Areinamo and Adams all getting the bump. Not sure if Wilken and Boeve will start the year in high-A (probably not I’m guessing) but that would be quite the lineup if they did.

With Misiorowski, to me it's all about just getting him work no matter where he's at as the minor league season winds down.  I didn't ever think there was a shot at him winding up in Milwaukee this season no matter how he was pitching after the promotion to AA....he just needs continued work refining command, and it wouldn't surprise me if his recent struggles with location have as much to do with the schedule of pitching over the course of a 6ish month season for the first time in his life.  As long as he's healthy, he's becoming a better pitcher after making every start no matter what the results.

Hate to toss out Hall of Famer references to a guy that has only been in the system a few weeks, but the way he talked in a recent article I read reminded me of Wade Boggs or Joey Votto in the sense that the has an astute understanding of how his swing works and what tweaks he can make to accomplish different things. Wanna hit for a little more power? Ok I'll just make this little adjustment.

Boeve definitely has that type of polish to his hitting approach - I always try to refrain from making overly optimistic projections for a collegiate hitter getting his pro career started at the low minor league levels....but dominating those levels is a far better way to get started than middling to disappointing production.

It’s hard to look at Wilken and not get excited. The Mike Trout comparison is a little bold but he sure does look like him at the plate. He’s so massive he barely fit in that home run video of him.

Doesn’t that kind of also support the alternate viewpoint as well? Misiorowski is one of those rare guys where high-A vs. double-A doesn’t matter much. Double A guys probably aren’t going to have much more luck against him when he is on than high-A guys. I guess for me, it would be more about trying to find the ideal situation for him to hone his control. If they thought that is Biloxi, then fine. Challenging him is secondary for me.

I see what you're saying, but Double A pitchers are more likely to force him into the strike zone. He was getting some truly outrageous whiffs in the A Ball and High A's, so the extra challenge so far, while notable, the Brewers will be confident that by this time next yea he'll have a heck of a lot more command

I do worry at times that his action may never be repeatable enough to be a starter, but if he it can be... wow
