The way these postseason rules work who really cares if your the third division winner or a wild card

And if it's against the Cubs, then being the home team for all 3 games won't even matter.

Yeah. I think they need to decide soon if they want Gasser stretched out through the end of the season as the 6th rotation option or if they'd rather go Lauer/Rea/Teheran. If the former, then they should start getting Gasser some relief work in AAA. Would be a way to manage his innings, too.

He doesn't need his innings managed. He threw 137 innings last season and this year is at 107 with with 6-7 more starts which will put him in the 140 to 150 IP range which is an acceptable jump.

I stand corrected. But they should still decide shortly here whether they want to get him up as a reliever a la Woody, Corbin, Freddy, in which case, he should start getting relief innings, or if they want him stretched out as an option if one of the starters gets injured.

I’d rather be the home team regardless to get the advantage of the last at bat.

But if the Cubs play the wild card series here I would guess they would have more fans here than the Brewers would. Weekday or weeknight games in October at playoff game prices would be a tough sell in this market.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Agree, I can't see them giving starts to someone unproven like Gasser at this point, but I could see them trying Gasser out of the pen. Mejia hasn't capitalized on his opportunity, unfortunately.

If they believe Lauer should be good to start in short order (his velocity is back), then I agree getting him relief action is the way to go.

I just don't want to have to rely on Rea or Teheran.

I'm not sure Lauer will maintain his velocity if he gets stretched out, and don't trust him any more than the other 2 veterans, but I still agree with your general premise.

I trust him more simply because he has the last two seasons of sterling work in the back-end of the rotation.

The other two have no track records of being good starters (Rea) or have been seemingly washed up going on a couple years (Teheran).

3-3 is the absolute ceiling next week.     That’s winning one series between the red hot rangers and dodgers.    I’m guessing it will be worse than that

lets hope the cubs don’t maul the White Sox and royals next week

we will see what the brewers are made up of in the next couple of weeks

I believe 6-0 is the ceiling.

You don’t understand ceiling and floor

I think he actually does. It's 6 games...our ceiling is definitely 6-0.

Now if you were asking Game1 of the season what our ceiling was, if someone said 162-0, then I think you'd be right, but sweeping two three game series....though unlikely, is clearly their ceiling.

And 0-6 is their floor. This one is pretty straight forward!

Awesome 4 game heater. Man having woody back is so nice. Offense has been serviceable. This team can be so much better than it is but still is 3.5 games up. Love it.

Notice how the talking sports herd has never gushed (so far) about the "red hot" Brewers? And yet, somehow, we have been in or near first place for 3+months. Go figure. Steady wins the race!

Sure and Turang ceiling is single season home run record

but I do agree the floor is 0-6      They could do that

and I could definitely entertain the argument that they would win both series     I guess 4-2 is realistic but unlikely        They ain’t going 6-0     That’s not realistic or the ceiling

So incredibly dumb.

So whatever you deem "realisitc" is "the ceiling ".

Hilarious.

Or we could split it and just say go 81-0.    That’s realistic.    I mean 162-0 seems pretty far fetched

They won’t make it out of the dodgers series before your realistic 6-0 week disappears away in thin air

thats not saying the brewers aren’t a solid team etc.       it’s too much to ask to sweep both of those teams

If it’s unrealistic then how in the flying $&@! can it be the ceiling
