Yankees just released Josh Donaldson. Calf, which has kept him on the IL, is supposedly fully healed. Still has really good QOC #s. xSLG of .538 this season, in a SSS albeit. Crushes LHP historically and allows you to move Monasterio to 2B.

Downside is age and limited positional flexibility.

If they're not going to call up Black, then I say absolutely take the chance. Anderson is wasted space on this roster at this point.

Yeah...what the hell. 10% Walk rate, 92.8 average exit velo. I wouldn't bump Turang for Monasterio...save for some tough lefty on lefty matchups, but sure, bring him in.

Anderson with the same Walk rate, higher K rate and ~5MPH lower exit velo.

Seems like the type of move that could at least give you a chance at catching lightening in a bottle. I've he's an obnoxious guy in the clubhouse, but I trust Counsell, Murphy, Adames, Burnes, Yelly, Woodruff and the leaders to keep everything smooth.

I think we need an option other than playing Turang against LHP, which we don't really have right now. Defense is awesome regardless, but his #s (in a SSS granted) are Wiemer vs. righties esque.

Thing to note is he's being paid 21 mil.   I'm not sure on the timing of things right now and if he's still on waivers where you'd work out a trade with NYY.  But if so that price would be several mil more than Anderson (if they did a swap).     If he's cleared waivers already and is league min, then yea what do you have to lose swapping him for Anderson.  Unless they view his personality as bad enough to stay away

He's going to clear waivers due to that price tag. But, once he does, I think the Brewers should be one of the teams involved, as he'd be making league minimum then.

At least Donaldson still has good QOC numbers....

Not really as he doesn't even have enough batted balls to even register anything of importance.  I would expect all of his stats to be worse than Anderson or at the best about the same.  He sucks it would be trading one turd sandwich for another turd sandwich.

It very well could be, but there's at least evidence that there could be a payoff with Donaldson.

Thing is they do have a gaping hole at 3B.   Seems like they rode the hot streak for Monestario as they should have, and its great he's helped out so much.  But chances are he's going to be way under par over the next few month as regression hits.   I like that some posters think Black can be the answer, at least vs lefties and hopefully that works.   But not sure what options will be out there other than him or Donaldson who have a realistic chance to be good come playoff time. With the real trade deadline these days there really aren't many possible moves left.

I know Donaldson has sucked this year and mostly last too.  But he's also been hurt, give him two weeks of ABs and see if can be his old self for 6 weeks.  Maybe he can be our Rafael Furcal the Cards pulled outa their behind in 2011.     But, if their internal info is straight up to just not deal with his personality I'm cool with that too.  I'd view this as a pure "hey, literally can't be worse than Anderson, hope you get lucky" type thing so its not like I'm gonna blame anyone or get worked up about it.

I wouldn't risk team chemistry for this idiot.

If they have some in-depth talks with the guy & decide everything would be OK, I trust the brain trust. But I think the above quote is probably an overriding factor.

And other than maybe being PH for late vs a LHP if trailing, I'm not all that big on Turangs' PT being cut.

I seem to remember some grumbling about him with the Twins (after the FA signing honeymoon wore off of course) here in MN on the sports broadcasts... To the tune of lockerroom issues, but I don't recall anything specific.

Maybe @Brock Beauchamp remembers more?

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

My understanding is that he was widely disliked within the Twins organization, so much so that grumblings from Twins staff were said out loud in the press box at Target Field.

I'd stay the **** away from Josh Donaldson, full stop.

Losing 2 of 3 to the Cubs really put the Brewers' brass into panic mode, it seems.

Not so much as Monasterio and Anderson's dropoff....

The Brewers obviously have no faith in Anderson with his 4 starts in August. If they want to switch Anderson with Donaldson, fine. Would prefer Black but don't need dead weight like Anderson on the roster.

I've just heard...repeatedly that he's an *******.

But never 1st person. The Jackie thing...in and of itself, given the context I guess I don't have a problem with that(you compare having fun and back flips and the minor criticism you get with Jackie Robinson and the 'barrier he broke and...you deserve to get mocked for it).

He just strikes me as a guy who has strong opinions and makes sure you know all of them and a lot are probably not popular in a clubhouse.

team america vomit GIF

10% walk rate

92.8 MPH exit velo

51.4% hard hit rate

The issue can't be with his offense, so just don't like the guy? I get that. Taking a shot on Donaldson makes a lot of sense though.

Like I said earlier, if the FO feels it'll work, OK. Bryce Wilson & Julio Teheran were teammates in ATL. Maybe their brains were picked a little.

If it doesn't happen, you'd think a Black callup becomes highly likely as this getting out isn't exactly a glowing endorsement for BA.
