Good outing from houser and I’m enjoying these stress free saves from Williams.      It’s better than when he brings out his inner Mitch Williams sometimes

5 runs allowed in 4 games.  Kinda nuts.

We’re even almost used to something like that. Some fans go years without seeing their team pitch that good over a series.

Actually Cole is the only recent pitcher of note I've seen have some success against this lineup, especially getting the chases, and I think it's important to note that the umpires massive stroke zone played a big big part in both his and Burnes effectiveness.

Off the top of my head, Scherzer and dunning were on top form for the Rangers when both got outlasted by the fifth.

I'd also argue Steele was lucky, although pitching well, that the wind was that strong blowing in from left field or there would have been several homers there too

That's off the top of my head just, but it's a big difference from the last two years where the Brewers made hay against poor pitching and disappeared against any quality

That Texas series was some of the best AB consistency I've seen in a long time, over the course of a full series.

Agreed re Steele. He certainly wasn't bad that day, but the conditions held us down a little more than he did. The long flies, and IIRC a lineout by Adames in the 1st that might've plated a couple.

Tyrone Taylor. I mean, I did NOT see this coming. Not only stepping up in various ways like he has, but to do it when you really need him to----with the influx of OF talent emerging/on the way, it was very difficult for me to see a role for him in the future. Pending the usual contract/arby/FA issues, you'd think a guy like him would fit beautifully  on a roster. Sort of an OF version of what Monasterio has done to the INF picture.

Nice to see the script flip after one time through the order vs a talented young arm.

Nothing flashy but a very decent return for Houser.

Kinda ugly inning from Uribe, but he mucked his way through. It IS nice to have an unfinished product putting up an ERA under 1.5 while he learns. Some kinda talent.

Good to see Turang contribute with the little stuff. Make more consistent contact & he's an offensive asset.

I'm guessing we don't see Canha until St Louis. I'm basing this on nothing more than them wanting to be extremely cautious & feeling they have the leeway to do so.

If Turang could just hit 250 he’d be plenty valuable with his defense and base running.

I'd be inclined to put that # at .235 or so. I mean, he's been pretty valuable this year hitting .220 or whatever it is. Over the last 6 weeks IIRC he's around 240-250.

Wonder if/when a Black for Rowdy swap happens.

I'm not against the idea but I'd put that in the highly unlikely category. But if it does I think it would be after N'Ville is through.

His ABs in AAA have been awfully good lately though.

I don’t think they’ll get rid of him at all. I’m just thinking he might be a heavily used utility man. In fact, I wouldn’t be at all shocked if he’s the guy in spring training next year who tests out an outfield glove in attempt to make him a super utility player.

Like Taylor, Monasterio's certainly opened eyes to a possible role down the road. It might ace out a chance for my guy Cam Devanney, but you can't ignore what an asset he's been.

The frustrating part is that a few of the games they've lost recently really felt like ones they should have won.  The no hit game in New York, last nights game with the 15 gidp balls.  Either way, solid position, but I would prefer they lock it up before the Cubs come to town.

Every team has games they lost that they should have won.  ATL recently lost a series at home to STL, and ATL scored 20 runs over the three games.  One of the games they lost was started by Strider, and they scored 6 runs.

I thought this might be how they would do it…….with all the games yet to come and no days off I figured they wouldn’t want to be an arm short in the pen.

He can't come back up for 15 days, though, and the Brewers have 10 more in a row.

I think we see Gasser on 9/19 in place of Vieira.

He can come back up if someone goes on the IL. That's more likely than adding Gasser to the 40-man for 1 start when he's not Rule 5 eligible this offseason.

True.  Lauer, then.  Junk and Small are the only other options.

Cubs fans have given up the division.     All they talk about is wild card now

i still think it’s a good chance that the last series means something.    But I’m hoping not.    We need to whip up on this bad teams now

I have a funny feeling that the day after Viera pitches he will have back spasms.  Just a hunch.,

Yeah feels like either he or Chafin might come down with a random "injury"

Root gives up a leadoff single to open the 9th. Tying run at 1B....Surely Carolina's bullpen won't blow a 5-0 8th inning lead right?

Root with a huge broken bat double play! Guilarte brings it to the bag himself and throws it over to Chirinos who digs it out of the dirt.

Jadher Areinamo can't pull off another play that he normally makes according to Greg Young. That's the 4th time it has happened tonight. He's having a brutal series. 0-9 and the defense has fallen apart. Tying run back on first with 2 outs.

Root gets an easy ground ball to Guilarte and he boots it. 5-5 tied game on the Guilarte error. The Mudcats have just absolutely fallen apart the last 2 innings.
