Interesting. After their recent comments and Anderson playing yesterday, I had ruled this out. Must have just decided that there was no way Anderson was making the postseason roster.

Surprised they didn't just phantom IL Anderson. This is a good decision. Was a non-contributor for a month and a half. Thanks for those amazing first three weeks BA

I still wish we had 1 more good/decent right handed hitter.

Sal is really struggling now……against a lefty in post season if you play Taylor, Yelich and Canha in the out field you are short right handed DH.

if you DH Canha then you have to play Sal, Perkins or possibly Mitchell( they have said his role will be minimal so I doubt it) …….other option is to DH Donaldson but then Turang has to play which obviously isn’t good.

Anyway…..glad to have Garrett back

It's hard to understand why in the world they kept Anderson around this long and just never used him.

It's mind boggling, really. We're starved for RH bats, so why not bring up Tyler Black or really anything other than sitting on a player they clearly had no confidence in playing.

Anderson must have insulted counsell the same way hiura has.

Terrible decision! BA had a smoking hot 833 OPS for Sept!

Really sad that he couldn't just hit his career norms of 252/336/404/740.  That would've been a huge contribution this year.  That would've been the 3B we needed. I had a lot of hope when he signed (and especially starting off hot).  Wow did that take a turn no one expected.

I'd have liked to have kept him on the roster just in case heading into the post-season.

Question if it is indeed the Marlins we face does Weimer make it over Mitchell? Marlins have a lot of LHP relievers.

Me too. I thought signing him was a great idea, and for the first month or two it certainly was. He wasn't good enough to sustain that but I never expected him to fall off a cliff offensively the way he did. And when he played regularly the glove was a huge asset; it won them games.

Not an easy call, but I'd have given him a razor-thin edge over Mitchell for a roster spot right now.

I'd be surprised. But it's an idea that has some merit. If Mitchell would be mostly a PR, yeah, he has more speed than Wiemer, but Wiemer is more than fast enough to fill that role. And regardless of his struggles in the 2nd half he would be a better bet vs a LHP than Mitchell.

The roster decisions are probably coming down to who their opponent is next week, as you alluded to.

Perkins, Frelick and Mitchell are not great options against LHP. Still don't know if they would have Wiemer on the roster, maybe Taylor starts in CF with Yelich/Canha. However, if they pinch hit for Taylor then kind of stuck so maybe Wiemer does make the playoff roster due to LHP.

Perkins results against LHP is due to a tiny BABIP.

I wonder if there was something more going on behind closed doors with Anderson. I seems odd that he would just figuratively fall off the face of the earth and not see any playing time for two months.

Andrew Monasterio's performance probably played a big factor.
