There's also something to be said about having Miley or Rea pitch today if Peralta can't go deep. At least that way a potential tomorrow you have Williams and hopefully a few guys that didn't pitch at all. Peralta for 5, Rea for 2-3. Then tomorrow Miley for 3-5 and Wilson for 2. I know those are probably optimistic innings numbers in the postseason, again lets just hope we get filthy Peralta and he gives us 6 squeaky clean innings.

That may depend on where the game is at, at that point. Are we tied? Up by a few runs? Certainly you'd like to have a loaded pen for a potential Thursday game. But just as obviously the margin for error is gone. Like you said, Peralta needs to step up & take this into the 6th or 7th inning.

Crazy that Winker wasn't pulled up last week to actually see MLB pitching and get some at bats in.

I think what happened there, is he received a lot more ABs in Nashville then he would've here, and they needed that to help make a decision. Given the role he's in, it was pretty much a case of him vs Tellez for a roster spot. If Winker was up here he takes whatever ABs Tellez was getting, and this way they got to see something from both. If anything, maybe Tellez should've gotten a few more, to see if he was going to show signs of heating up.

It wasn't an easy call. I'm not defending CC, I would've given the spot to Tellez. But it isn't like choosing between Prince Fielder & Kevin Barker.

I would not give up the spot to Tellez. Winker brings a little more to the playoff table. Despite last night, his batting average as a pinch hitter is very high. But I will say that Tellez does sometimes show up when the lights are one, e.g., World Baseball Classic. But really, it's hard to say -- a pitcher makes a mistake, a hitter guesses the right pitch. You never know what will happen.

I am predicting bad Peralta shows up today and gives up 4 runs in the first and then 3 more in the third before getting removed and the series is over.

Brewers score 5 runs but lose 12-5.

Moving into September was it really only Tellez and Winker as the options though? Mitchell provides so much more, even when you take the bat out of the equation.

I realize the Brewers' brass knows better than us ... but take a quick poll on this site on who people would want in a critical situation right now between Winker and Hiura .. I think it is a landslide. Winker and Black, I think the same. Heck, Winker and Chourio.

I guess I didn't realize on 9/1 that the Brewers were going to decide between Rowdy and Winker for a pinch hitting spot ... otherwise there would have been noise amongst the fan base, no? We had no more options?

I know Mitchell is a fan favorite. I'm a big fan. But he was 1 for 7 since coming back, and I wonder if he's even 100 percent healthy. It's a tough call out of a few less than stellar options.

Does not compute.

As they were heading into the last week of the season & looking to put together a playoff roster, yeah, I think it was between those two. It was more-or-less a case of having a LH pinch hitter role to fill. Yes, they could've gone with Mitchell & Miller could then cover 1B in a pinch. But I think Mitchells' chances of making it on the roster was an either-or situation with Perkins.

With Black, you're getting into 40-man & arby clock issues.

Personally I think Rowdy is the obvious choice but I recognize that everyone is going to have their opinion on who to pick off the ol' scrap heap for the last roster spot. Certainly he was the most likely of the "26th man" options to take Ginkel deep in that situation yesterday.

Peralta did not pitch against the Dbacks this year or last year. In 2021 he did so twice and racked up 13.1 innings allowing 2 hits, 7 BB, 1 run, 19 ks...and got the win both times. One of those matchups in 2021 was against Zac Gallen.

Current diamondbacks that have seen Freddy are a combined 2 for 21(22, but I'm removing a Zac Gallen AB) with 3 BB and 6 K...with Ketel Marte having the best stats of 1 for 2 with a double and BB.

Glad you didn't put Gallen's line against us this year...because...yikes.

Looking forward to being at the game tonight.

But I pray that we aren't near any "baseball experts" who feel the need to explain the game in a raised voice so everyone can hear within about a 25 foot radius.

THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY was to have Winker up the last five games to actually see if he could actually hit MLB pitching after a long time away.  He could have played everyday!!!   It is also crazy that he is even on the team considering how horrible he has been hitting primarily second (unreal) half of the year.  Obviously, this is a manager's gut decision because it is not practical or logical based on how he has hit all year.  And I feel for a better options like Huira, Black, Rob Deer, Yuni, etc...

The Brewers got too excited yesterday.  The baserunning errors were because they were not staying the course.  I admire what Yelich was trying to do, but the SS ended up going back to third.

Also, there had damn well better be some type of a plan for the hitters going up to the plate.  I seriously think swinging at a pitch at the letters or four balls off the inside on strike zero constitutes hitters having a plan.

Any thoughts on the lineup tonight...I'm guessing the same as yesterday except maybe Monasterio for Turang since Freddy's an extreme K/Fly Ball guy

No, everyone here is great. But the know-it-alls are unpleasant at games. They find their way to Packer games too.

What about the people who stop and talk to their friends for a while right in your line of sight? Wonderful people.

You are missing the best one. The one that gets up in the middle of the inning, half a row stands up to let them out, a play happens, and they proceed to stop and watch the entire thing unfold mid-row. So half a row is just standing up.
