WR and DL makes sense(wouldn't mind Gabe Hall or Leonard Taylor yet)...but little surprising with CB. They must feel better about Stokes prospects of coming back strong and Valentine being a real dude.

Watts out of UConn is a really athletic guy who's worth taking a flier on as well.

Pick #245

Michael Pratt (6’3”, 219), QB from Tulane.

Pro:  Best intangibles of any QB in this draft. His leadership, toughness and intelligence stand out. Beat USC (Caleb Williams team) in the 2023 Cotton Bowl. Very quick setup and release. Quick processor and a efficient play action passer with good touch and footwork

Con: Lacks agility and speed as a scrambler. Lack of strong arm strength especially with passes to the far side of the field. Wobbly deep ball.

Kalen King!

Damn, I thought he was off the board!

Probably not a starter, but a good, physical press corner, limited speed, but tough. More competition the Packers love talking about.

For a "weak" as this draft was supposed to be on Day 3, there's a lot of really good athletes left.

Lacks agility and speed? I just thought with the 28 TDs I thought it was, he was a better athlete.

But, smart, gets the ball out quickly, that's what you're looking for in a backup.

I thought Sean Clifford looked really good as a backup as well, but Pratt's interesting.

not sure what happened last season

He scored many of his rushing touchdowns by QB sneaks. At 6’3” and 220 he is a big guy. Should be interesting to see if he might beat out Clifford for the backup job.

Yeah, he had a rough season and then apparently also had a rough Senior Bowl. IF you have good 2022/2023 tape tho - and then you have a bad Senior Bowl - the Packers will def give you a chance in the 7th Rd. They've had good hits going this route.

Interestingly, in Gutey's post-draft presser he shared Enegbare may have actually avoided ACL surgery. They didn't find a full tear - they are still working through it and he didn't share in depth. Didn't want to get into it in detail. BUT, so far good news.

Solid draft.  Like all of the picks except for Hopper.

Certainly have confidence in who they already have at Edge/DE, DT, CB, and OL.

Lafleur's post-draft presser:

Stokes is a full healthy go. He is practicing full speed and looks great.

I'm going to reserve judgment on that.

The dude has been awfully sneak bitten so far in his career injury-wise.

It's just a report from Hafley on where they think Stokes is at. There's not much to judge. They think he's healthy and confident he'll be back. It's not a guarantee that he's going to bounce back, but it's certainly good to hear.

I look at it as one significant injury that he didn't really get a chance to bounce back from. If he's back...just to where he was as a rookie, this is a  stacked secondary. If not, it's still a pretty damn good one...but one that may be more suited to more Cover2 than Single High.

Ongoing UDFA signings HERE

Could be a huge addition in getting Bowden, the LS from Wisconsin. Arguably the best LS in this class.

Also, Chatfield from OSU really stood out just from watching a few Oladapo plays.

WRs seems pretty obvious.  A lot of great WRs, but really only lacking a clear go to #1.  But someone might develop to that.

DL - we went from a 3-4 to 4-3 so many of the inside guys go from 3 positions down to two. So depth is pretty great.  DE depth is ok.  If Engebare recovers, depth there is fine.

CB is a bit more interesting.  Clearly, this means they are pretty comfortable with Stokes and Valentine.

@CheezWizHed Got your guy!

I'm still in mourning over Jaheim Bell going to NE after they stole Wilson, the 6'7 WR also, but love seeing the QB, especially while Clements is there.

It sounded like they were going to go after a QB and Pratt seemed like a Packer QB.  Strong arm, decent athletics (8.0+ RAS).  Mentioned he was weak on accuracy (60% in college), but he 64-65% the last two years.  Kind of reminded me of Love.

I'm just surprised (happy?) that they got him int he 7th instead of the 5th.

They don't have that #1, but that might be a good thing. I think Watson due to his rare athletic ability and Wicks because he looks SO Davante-esque are the most likely, but so many guys do so many things at a high level. Bo Melton looked incredible last year. Coming back, high pointing the ball, Doubs is the intermediate guy who can get you deep. Reed is the twitched up slot.

DL-Would have liked to see a Leonard Taylor or someone with the upside at least to push for a spot. Same at edge, a Watts from Uconn. If they got Chatfield from Or State(he was on the list, now off) he could be a really versatile player.

The news about Enagbare not tearing his ACL completely and not needing surgery is really good news.

I knew nothing about him because I thought he was projected to go late Day2, early Day3. So felt too early so Milton just seemed perfect as a project. I think Clifford showed quite a bit last year and you could try and develop him. But Pratt sounds like he's smart, gets the ball out quickly, he's got straight-line speed, and is savvy. The type of guy who can maybe develop and net you a pick in 2-3 years while serving as a competent backup.

A couple picks I wish they'd have made differently(Jaheim Bell a big one, he was made for this team)...but the big fella from Ga State looked really interesting. Certainly raw, but maybe an OG? Maybe they do start running more of a gap scheme on offense.

There's gonna be a LOT of competition.

Clifford is going to be 26 by the time the season opens. I don't know how much he's going to develop if at all so I understand why they drafted some competition.

Clifford was actually pretty advanced last year and looked pretty good in pre-season. But yes, at age 26 I don't know if anyone is going to give up a pick for him.  It will be interesting to see the competition in TC this year.  Will the Packers keep 3 QBs or try to sneak one into the PS.

Yeah considering they didn't really know what they had in Jordan Love before the season he made a ton of sense last year given his high floor.

Pratt was a late 7th round pick.  If someone really wanted him, given the need for QBs league-wide, they would have drafted him.  Highly likely they can get him through to the practice squad.

Interesting that Donovan Jennings got $110K guaranteed as a UDFA.  That's equivalent to an early 7th round pick as far as guaranteed money.  I think he can be a legitimate contender for a backup OG spot.  Given that Newman got performance escalators that bring his salary to $3.2M this year, I think if it's even close they keep Jennings over Newman.
