Pauline (I know, my guy, but I'm sharing anyway) on Hopper:

Quote

Hopper watched his game take off in 2022 after transferring to Missouri from Florida, and he presented himself as a three-down linebacker. The injury from last season stunted his development, yet he can play on all three downs in a system that protects him and allows him to run to the ball.

93rd overall ranking. Not a reach by his eyes.

Maybe the LS from NC State and a punter?

I wouldn't take a Kicker. I think you're covered with Joseph and I believe Carlson will develop, but that 'Bama kid was good under pressure.

I'd say 3 OL, 2 Florida State players(TE, CB) and...a QB.

Agree on punter. Can probably get an UDFA long-snapper. Anyone to give Orzech competition. To my eyes, he struggled

Great tackler?......

Gutey, in the presser I linked above, actually cites they were extremely impressed as a staff by Hopper's 'Stopping Power' as a tackler. Cited his meanness and aggression and athleticism. SO, maybe there is actually something there?

Bullard and Nixon share a very similar size and speed profile.  Bullard has better agility numbers, but it makes me wonder how much those two might be swapping positions between nickel and safety.  That would also make Nixon's salary a bit more logical.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Gs McCormick and Bortolini (maybe C) are still available.  Either would be great fits in the 4th. If they go for someone like Foster instead (i.e. another tackle), that might be pretty telling on Tom's position next year.

TJ Tampa (as previously noted) would be great. Hicks at safety seems to be good value, but I'd almost prefer a later safety that is highly athletic with limited experience (high ceiling, low floor type) to take a shot on.  McKinney, Bullard, and Johnson (with Nixon too) is a pretty decent safety room.  Sign Rudy Ford and that high-end late round pick puts us in pretty good position.

LB room is pretty well set - McDuffie, Walker, Welch, Wilson, Cooper, and Hopper.  Not a ton of experience in the room, but some upside and athleticism.

That's exactly what happens.  All teams are informed immediately when the pick is turned into the league, not when it is announced on TV four minutes later.

I think it's totally possible DeJean was our guy at 41 if available.

I also think it's possible that we had numerous guys that we liked on that tier where if a team scooped up Dejean in front of us, we'd just pivot to a different option and we weren't going to get aggressive trading up to get him.

Cooper seems like a nice value that fits a need, so Cooper+5th+6th over DeJean seems fine to me.

Yeah, I'd bet if Gute had it to do over again, he'd have moved up to secure DeJean, maybe moved back up to get the other Cooper.

He kinda said he wanted to move up, they cautioned him to be patient(rumors they were trying to move up both into the late teens and early 2nd).

But then the OL quality really dropped after the end of the 1st with Guyton and I think Morgan goes to SF, Balt or a team like that. Though, it's entirely possible he falls to 41.

That said, I'm sure there are ALWAYS situations like this and at the end of the day, we got 4 guys I really like, one I just don't, but hope I'm wrong about and the Packers very likely get 3 impact starters, an important change of pace back and a LB who'll be a demon on STs and may take over for McDuffie in a year and they have 8 picks left to try and find a Wicks, Tom, Walker...Doubs(this list could go on for a while).

So I'll give the draft an A-...just because I think if you take a LB, Wilson's medicals seemed like they'll be fine. Similar to last year when the Steelers took a player we had off our board in Danell Washington. We got Tucker Kraft and we could still end up with a really good blocking TE this year with EIGHT more picks(or my draft crushes Jaheim Bell, Joe MIlton among others).

Watts from Texas fits this REALLY well.

~6'3 205 CB, probably moves to safety. 9.8 RAS(IIRC). He'd be a great fit. A 6'2 kid from...Washington? Both 7th rd prospects. Watts from Uconn is another edge prospect in that range and Myles Cole...really interesting Edge. Lots of athletes. Can't coach size and speed...

My man, Goodell, button that shirt up, for all of us babe.

Heard Goodell had back surgery pretty recently. Maybe he was jacked up on pain meds? Ha! He slurred a couple of times when announcing picks.

There's always that one guy the whole fan base randomly obsesses over and it was Dejean this year.

If he turns into an all pro we will remember it like TJ Watt that's for sure. Overall great draft when you look at it from a needs perspective. defense seems set if you believe Stokes will rebound to rookie form. The Oline needs to sort out but seems like we have 5 starters there. Now we can spend all these day 3 picks on depth and special teams, maybe a QB. I love the RB pick, sounds a lot like Aaron Jones, maybe we get that backfield we dreamed of for like 2 hours before they cut Jones.

I think a lot of it had to do with DeJean going to GB in a number of mock drafts by the media. It makes sense if you look at where you draft and who will be available. It gets narrowed down to 5, 6 guys and then people prefer the guy that fits the biggest need.

Honestly, even if they wanted DeJean and "settled" for Cooper that is hardly a consolation prize. It's like 1a and 1b (or 2a and 2b I guess). I would love to know if they really wanted Arnold and DeJean though. Guess we'll never know.

All in all though, I think the draft fell GBs way given positional need. It was a good year to not need a QB or a WR. Jordan, Cooper, Lloyd, Bullard is a great haul. I'm iffy on Hopper but I've seen several guys on GBs defense go elsewhere and get better. Maybe Hafley can get this guy to reach his ceiling.

Nobody knows anything. I get why they don't announce trades when they happen but it'd be nice as a fan to know if this was true after the fact:

So they didn't want him. Good luck to him, he's facing an uphill battle.

Think the Packers did great with their picks. #1 RB and LB in the draft via ESPN.  They are going to blow teams away this season.

Packers likely involved with trades today, but day three projections are too hard with too little time.  That said, here are my day three predications-

4-126 - Mason McCormick/OG/South Dakota State

5-168 - Myles Cole/DE/Texas Tech

5-169 - Omar Brown/S/Nebraska

6-190 - Kamal Hadden/CB/Tennessee

6-202 - Joe Milton/QB/Tennessee

6-219 - AJ Barner/TE/Michigan

7-245 - Dalton Tucker/OG/Marshall

7-255 - Kyler Baush/DT/Minnesota

I think that is a distinct possibility. Denver moved up 18 spots and only gave up their 4th a 5th and a 6th. Good reference point for the Packers if they should move and shake.
