By the way, in regards to game threads, they are up for grabs. I usually create them in the morning but if you come here and don't see one, create one if it suits your fancy. Thanks!

At least according to the tv box, hall is getting no help on pitches that just miss in addition to the ump calling a lot of strikes balls.  Must be pretty frustrating for him, but I think he's still pitching well.

Not familiar with Dunn. Is he a youngster or a vet pick up?

Does anyone think Hall’s velo is down because its cold and windy? Some guys famously can’t get loose completely until the weather heats up.

Part of me thinks he’s purposely trading velo for control but man 90-92 is pretty low for him.

Ump has given him no help plus screwed him a couple times.

Sad to see hall pulled at the start of the 5th so he's not eligible for the win.

he was over 93 a few times the last inning. I think it's just the cold weather

Interesting to see Peguero go 2 full IP. He only recorded 6 outs 2 times last season. I wonder what his role will be out of the pen this season. Obviously we saw Megill get the 7th yesterday when that was Peguero's main role for much of last season,

Often pitchers will be a tick slower starting than in the BP too.

My thoughts on Hall:

  • His FB is pretty hittable.  Not much swing and miss in it.  As noted... a bit slower than expected.  Hopefully, that picks up a bit more.
  • Struggled early with breaking ball control early, but 2nd time through he seemed to calm and got a lot of bad contact and swing and miss.
  • He pitched around a lot of foot traffic, so good resilience.

He did well in the debut but didn't look overly special either.  Hopefully it has to do with nerves more than anything and he show more in coming games.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
